My mom is 77 and she has stage 4 lung cancer. She's done a LOT of radiation, and at less than 80 lbs, and having COPD, shes not a great candidate for Chemo. Although they aren't too confident, the oncologist is willing to let her try a medication called Tarceva - which works in about 10% of patients who carry a certain gene mutation. They aren't sure if she carries the gene, blood work is being done now. Regardless, they are going to give her the medication to try as a last resort. Please pray that she doesn't experience the nasty side effects from this drug, and that it can help to turn her prognosis around. Only God can help her now - God, and of course a LOT of prayers. Please, I'm just not ready to say goodbye to my mom - we have many memories to make together still. God bless all of you! <3
