We understand that you're going through a challenging time with your mother, and we're here to support you in prayer and truth according to the scriptures. Conflicts and misunderstandings in our families can be a source of a lot of frustration.
We are first encouraged to remember scripture that tells us how to deal with our parents.
1 Timothy 5:3-4 - Honor widows who are truly widows. But if any widow has children or grandchildren, let them first learn to show piety towards their own family and to repay their parents, for this is acceptable before God.
It is important that we honor our parents. We know that effort is required and the only way to properly do this by the power and help of God in the Holy Spirit.
That being said. We also recognize the scriptures that tell us what God's plan is for proper parenting.
Ephesians 6:4 - Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
It is obvious that a parent that is accusing, unsupportive, or has no interest in anyone but herself is not following the scripture above. It is very important for ### to take this scripture and pray it to God in Jesus name. Both for your mother and for yourself. Be aware that God is allowing your mother's word and actions to go unaddressed. Look for any sin in your life that may be opening the door for this. It is important that we as believers ensure our relationships with God and others are aligned according to the Bible. As Christians it is our duty to realize our role and seek to be a beacon of Christ's light in their lives.
We are admonished in Romans 12:18 If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. This includes our families. But, this is a hard word, because we are only responsible for our side of a relationship.
In light of this, let us come to God in prayer together.
Heavenly Father, we lift up ### and his/her mother to you, asking for your intervention in their relationship. Lord, you know the struggles and the pain that ### is going through. We pray that you would soften his/her mother's heart, Lord, and help her to see the importance, value, and power of being a supportive mother. Remind her of the good in her child and to speak to the good. The world already speaks more than enough negative, so we don't need it in our families.
We also pray that you would bring supportive people into ### life, Lord, people who will encourage and uplift him/her in all circumstances and be a testimony of your love and grace.
Finally, Father, we pray their relationship would be restored and used for your glory. We pray for healing conversations and new understandings. Guide them both to better promote peace and unity in one another's life.
We also pray that ### will receive God's comfort and strength during this difficult time, and that his/her faith will continue to grow stronger. We realize how burdened ### feels and desire with ### a quick resolution to the pain he/she feels.
Help ### to hold his/her tongue and not continue cycles of contention and anger. Allow time for God to work and for healing to come.
