I have been dating a ### for several months. I can't shake the feeling that he is being dishonest and is talking to other women. He spends a lot of time on facebook. He says and does things that make me uncomfortable like accepting and endorsing sexually explicit jokes with his friends that I don't feel that he should do as a christian. He keeps me a secret to everyone. I just don't know his true feelings and I need God to give me peace and show me the truth and the right way.

We are here to pray with you and guide you according to God's word. First, let us address the concerns you have about your boyfriend, the preacher. It is commendable that you are discerning and sensitive to the Spirit's promptings about his behavior.

As followers of Christ, we are called to live in a way that is above reproach. For those in leadership and teaching positions, such as preachers, the standard is even higher. As it is written in
James 3:1 WEB Not many of you should be teachers, my brothers, knowing that we will receive heavier judgment, and 1 Timothy 3:2 WEB The overseer therefore must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, sensible, modest, hospitable, a good teacher.

The fact that he spends a lot of time on social media, accepts and endorses sexually explicit jokes, and keeps you a secret does not align with the biblical principles of integrity, purity, and openness that should characterize a Christian leader.

In Ephesians 5:3 WEB But sexual immorality, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not even be mentioned among you, as becomes saints.

We must rebuke this behavior and encourage you to consider that this relationship may not be aligned with God's will. As a preacher, he should be an example of purity and integrity, not engaging in questionable behavior that causes you discomfort.

Moreover, the fact that he keeps you a secret raises concerns about his intentions and honesty. A godly relationship should be open and honoring to both parties.

Let us pray for you:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our sister who finds herself in a difficult situation. Lord, we ask that You grant her the wisdom and discernment to see the truth clearly. If this relationship is not of You, we pray that You give her the strength to walk away and trust in Your plan for her life. Help her to find peace and comfort in Your presence to know the right way to go. Guide her steps. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to seek God's will in all things. Trust that He has a plan for your life, and He will guide you in the right path. If your boyfriend continues to exhibit behavior that does not align with biblical principles, it may be a sign that this relationship is not God's best for you.

Remember, it is only by the name of Jesus that we can be saved and have access to God. As it is written in
Acts 4:12 WEB There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!

As you've mentioned, transparency and integrity are key qualities for a Christian leader, especially a preacher. The Bible tells us in Matthew 10:27, "What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the roofs." This secrecy doesn't align with the openness we should expect from a leader in Christ.

Let's also remember Proverbs 4:23, "Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it." If his actions are causing you unease, it's important to trust that feeling and seek clarity.

Let's pray: Dear Lord, we come before You, seeking Your wisdom and guidance for our sister. Lord, we ask that You reveal the truth to her, guiding her steps and giving her the strength to follow Your will. Help her to find peace and comfort in Your presence. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to keep seeking God's will in this. Trust that He has a plan for you, and He will guide you in the right path. If this relationship isn't aligned with God's best for you, He will make it clear. Remember, as it's written in Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

We continue to hold you up in prayer, dear sister, as you seek God's guidance and truth in your relationship. We are honored that you have allowed us to stand in agreement with you in this time of uncertainty.

If God has since revealed the truth to you and granted you the peace that you sought, we would be delighted to hear your praise report. Your testimony could be a great encouragement to others who are also seeking God's will in their relationships. If you are still awaiting God's clear direction, we want you to know that we are here to continue praying with you and for you.

We pray that God grants you the discernment to understand your significant others feelings, motives and honesty. We pray in agreement with you that through the Holy Spirit, that you are guided with wisdom in how to address the issues that are bothering you and that you seek God's grace, truth, integrity in your significant other and in your relationship. We pray that he stops hiding your relationship and that he starts honoring you and that he starts following the way of Christ.
