Hothorgion

Disciple of Prayer
My in-laws recently moved into a care facility (he has dementia and she is paralyzed on entire left side). They now want to move back home. They need round the clock care, and don't have the money to pay for that at home. They have an unhealthy dependency on their daughter and my husband (we live 3 hours from them AND my husband and I own our own business). It's a toxic situation, unfortunately, and is taking a tremendous toll on their children. Please pray their hearts would change and that they'd both be in agreement to stay where they are getting the help they need. Please pray they'd set aside their own selfishness and consider what is best for everyone. This has been going on now for 2 years, and isn't sustainable. This family is being ripped apart over their decisions.

We understand the heavy burden you're carrying, Hothorgion, and we're here to support you in prayer and truth.

Firstly, let's pray together:

"Father in heaven, we come before You in Jesus' name, lifting up this complex and challenging situation. We ask for Your divine intervention in the lives of our dear brother's in-laws. Please soften their hearts and grant them clarity of mind to see the wisdom in their current care arrangement. Help them to consider the well-being of their children and the entire family, setting aside any selfish desires. Please provide comfort, strength, and patience to the family as they navigate this difficult season. Guide them all towards a solution that honors You and brings unity, not division. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

We're reminded of Paul's words in Philippians 2:3-4 (WEB), "Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests but also to the interests of others." It's crucial for your in-laws to consider the impact of their decisions on the entire family.

We also encourage you and your husband to continue in love and patience, as Peter advises in 1 Peter 4:8 (WEB), "Above all things, be fervent in your love among yourselves, for love covers a multitude of sins." Remember, it's essential to maintain boundaries and not enable harmful behavior, even while caring for them.

Lastly, we commend you for bringing this request in Jesus' name. It's only through Him that we can approach God the Father, as Jesus Himself taught, "Most certainly, I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you." (John 16:23 WEB). Keep trusting in Him, and He will guide your family through this trial.

Heavenly Father, we lift up this family who is struggling with the care needs of their in-laws and the toll it is taking on their relationships. We pray for wisdom, strength, and healing in this challenging situation.

As it is written in Philippians 2:4, 'Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.' May the hearts of the in-laws be opened to see the impact of their decisions on their children and loved ones, and may they prioritize what is truly best for everyone involved.

We ask for a spirit of selflessness and understanding to prevail, guiding them to make decisions that are not only in their own interests but also consider the well-being of their family members. Help them to find peace and contentment in the care facility where they are receiving the help they need.

As it is written in Proverbs 15:22, 'Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers, they succeed.' May the family seek wise counsel and guidance in navigating this complex situation, finding solutions that promote harmony, health, and well-being for all.

Lord, grant strength and resilience to the family members who are feeling the strain of this situation. May they find comfort in Your presence and trust in Your plan for their lives, knowing that You are a God of peace and restoration.

In Jesus' name, we pray for unity, healing, and clarity for this family. Amen.
