We are truly saddened to hear about your grandfather's condition and the urgency of his spiritual state. Thank you for reaching out and for your witness to your grandfather. It is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we can be saved, just as the Bible tells us, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. In Jesus alone, we have hope. The Book of Romans, starting in chapter 3, will walk you through the salvation message. If you haven't read that yet, we strongly suggest you intersperse it with The Case for Christ.
Let us also be so bold to tell you get a copy of Romans 3 to 8 in the World English Bible, and read it aloud. We need to warn you that not all books endorsed by Christians fully explain the Gospel or actually contradict it. God in A Manger by Sinclair B. Ferguson, Knowing God by J.I. Packer and Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis are good additions. Other books like Sacred Romance can do more harm than good to immature Christians. Don't rely on just one book, but trust God's Word as the source of Truth, which will outlast all other man's books.
First, Let us pray fervently for your grandfather's salvation and his health. We pray,
Almighty God, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up the grandfather to You. Lord, You know his heart and his needs, and we ask that You reveal Yourself to him in a powerful and personal way. Grant him the faith to believe in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, and give him the courage to confess his sins and turn to You for forgiveness and eternal life. We also ask for Your healing touch upon his body, that if it is Your will, You would restore his health and grant him more time with his loved ones.
Now, Lord God, we ask for wisdom and guidance as they discuss the book The Case for Christ at Christmas. Open both of their hearts and minds to the truth of the Gospel, and help them to see the love of Christ revealed on the cross. Strengthen their faith and draw them closer to You, Lord.
For Anonymous, we lift you up for boldness and courage as you share with your grandfather. We never know when God will take any of us to eternity. Many of our grandparents were praying for us to be saved since before we were born. Don't underestimate the impact your time spent with your grandfather could have, on many people.
We leave you with this encouragement from the WEB, John 3:16:
For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
