Yolrist
Disciple of Prayer
Today Sunday I received this message from my friendMy friends mom had a second stroke. He wrote me this : My mother had another stroke this morning at 6am. We just brought her home from the hospital yesterday. This one happened in her brain stem and she can't talk or swallow now and she is slipping away. She may be dead tomorrow. I am so sick with bronchitis and a sinus infection that they wouldn't let me into the hospital today when she was still conscious. I can come in the morning at 8am to see her. Whitney and Lee Ann are spending the night with her. She is going downhill very fast. I cant believe this is happening! She's only 78! I said Jon pray for your mom she may make it she is strong Saying a prayer for our loved ones is also important in helping them preserve the hope that they can improve. It also helps them to summon the spiritual strength to work like they have never done before toward rehabilitation. Is God in the rehab facility? Does God care about stroke patients? Of course He is and does. He responded It doesn't look good Martine. Even if she lives, she will have no quality of life. She will have no movement on her right side, she won't be able to speak or eat. She will be bedridden till she dies! Then I shred this prayer O Eternal God have mercy upon all who have suffered a stroke. Remove the sudden fear that befalls them. Endow them with courage in the struggle to recover what has been lost. Grant them strength and hope to envision new days ahead and a spirit of faith to take the risk of living fully once again.” And I also said It is inspiring to see how our elders fight with all their heart and soul. The least we can do is to be a presence for the them and support them and their caregivers as well as motivate them that they are right to hope to get better. That is God’s work in action. The lady’s name is Betty she had one Son Jon my friend and 2 daughters Lean and Whitney. Please pray for the Hipólites Join me in prayer please
I have been at the hospital all day. Mom is ok, but its like she's trapped in her body and can't communicate with the outside world. She can completely understand what you are saying to her, she just can't speak or form expressions on her face, nor can she swallow. She also can't move the right side of her body hardly at all. Its terrible.
The Neurologist came in while I was there and gave us some hope. He said that he was putting her on a drug called Plavix that would get rid of the tiny clots that are affecting her brain stem, and he said she would improve over time as the inflammation goes down in her brain stem where the stroke happened. Then if they get her into speech therapy, physical therapy, and occupational therapy quickly, they can use the plasticity of her brain to route around the damaged areas. Its going to be a slow process but she will improve.
Please continue praying for this family to continue together were faith and hope will not be lost
