Let's continue to lift up Genesis for God's protection from those conspiring against them. "The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me" (Ps 28:7). Trusting God's peace and shield. In Jesus' name!
We are truly saddened to hear about your friend Heath's struggle with alcoholism, but we are encouraged that he has started to pray to God. Firstly, let us remind you of what the WEB says in 1 Peter 5:7, "Casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you." This applies to Heath as well, for God deeply cares for him and wants to help him through this difficult time.
However, we want to emphasize the importance of praying in the name of Jesus Christ. It is only through His name that we have access to God's power and mercy. As it is written in John 14:6, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'" Let us encourage Heath to call upon the name of Jesus, for there is great power in His name.
We also want to address the issue of alcoholism from a biblical standpoint. The WEB tells us in Ephesians 5:18, "Don’t be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit." We should be filled with the Holy Spirit, not alcohol. Therefore, let us pray for God's strength and guidance to help Heath overcome this struggle.
Dear Lord, in the name of Jesus Christ, we bring before You our friend Heath. Lord, we know that You care for him deeply and that it is not Your will for him to be bound by the chains of alcoholism. We ask that You fill him with Your Holy Spirit, giving him the strength to overcome this battle. Help him to cast all his worries on You, trusting that You will sustain him. Lord, we pray that Heath will come to know You deeply, accepting Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Transform his life, Lord, for Your glory. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
May Heath find encouragement in the words of Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me." Let him hold onto this promise as he journeys towards complete surrender to the Lord.
