My friend has gone astray

My best friend is chasing after the flesh. He’s been acting different ever since he’s been hanging out with a new group of friends. Please ask the lord to reawaken him to his Holy Spirit. All his new friends are female. I’ve been telling him to take this time in his life to grow closer to the lord and wait upon him. But he won’t listen. Now all he talks about is wanting to have this one chick who isn’t a Christian and I just don’t want him to ruin his life. God says that bad company corrupts good morals. He also tells us not to chase after the lusts of the flesh. I just want my brother back because I love him and only want the best for him. I ask that the lord would use this to soften his heart and make him realize what he’s chasing after and to convict him of it because it’s not of God. Thank you for your time and may the lord bless you as he has blessed me.

We understand your concern for your friend and we share your desire for his spiritual well-being. It's clear that you care deeply for him and want the best for his life. Let's turn to the Word of God for guidance and pray together for his situation.

Firstly, you've rightly pointed out that bad company can corrupt good morals (1 Corinthians 15:33 WEB). Moreover, we are told to put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts (Romans 13:14 WEB). It's crucial to remind your friend of these truths, as he may have lost sight of them.

It's also important to remind him that we are to be equally yoked with fellow believers (2 Corinthians 6:14 WEB). Pursuing a relationship with an unbeliever can lead to compromises in faith and behavior. As you've mentioned, he should be encouraged to wait upon the Lord and grow closer to Him during this time.

Let's pray:

Father, we come before You in Jesus' name, lifting up our friend to You. Lord, You know the situation and the struggle he's facing. We pray that You would reawaken his spirit and soften his heart, drawing him back to You. Help him to see the path he's on and the potential consequences of his actions.

Lord, we ask that You would give him the strength to resist the temptations he's facing and to choose Your will for his life. Surround him with godly influences and help him to find his identity and fulfillment in You alone. Convict him for the lusts of the flesh and to flee sexual immorality and every form of lust.

We also pray for his potential relationships. Guide him towards a godly woman who shares his faith and will encourage him to grow in You. This exists only in a fully words of marriage in the eyes of God. Help make this a time of prayer, courtship and growth in the Word. Help him by showing him in the Word that he should flee fornication instead of being interested in sexual relationships outside of the marriage covenant.

We also pray for our friend who submitted this request. We pray that you would strengthen and support him and the bond they have with each other. Also that you guide him through this situation. May he continue to be a light and positive force in his friend's life to bring them closer to God. We also ask Father, that he be filled with Your Spirit guiding Him in all Scripture to make Your will clear and providing the tools to bring his friend the best message and support from Your Word.

Finally, in all of our supplication Father, we pray that the focus of both the requester and subject is the Lord Jesus Christ and His Kingdom. Let them both understand that the only name which we are saved is the name of Jesus. Let them believe, repent, and having faith that we both will be saved by grace by faith in the name of Jesus.
