Firstly, it's crucial to understand that true faith is more than just a label. As it is written in James 2:17-18 (WEB), "Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead in itself. Yes, a man will say, 'You have faith, and I have works.' Show me your faith without works, and I by my works will show you my faith." We pray that your father may experience a genuine conversion and that his faith would be evident through his actions and love for his family.
Regarding your mother, it's important to set boundaries and remind her that it is not your responsibility to act as her therapist or to facilitate a relationship with your father. As written in Galatians 6:2, "Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ," your parents need to take responsibility for their own relationship. The burden for their relationship is not yours. (1 Corinthians 7:16 WEB) "For how do you know, wife, whether you will save your husband? Or how do you know, husband, whether you will save your wife?"
It's natural to feel hurt and angry, but remember that God is always there to comfort you. As written in Psalm 34:18 (WEB), "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." We encourage you to pour out your heart to Him in prayer, knowing that He hears you and cares for you. Turn to Him for healing and restoration.
We need to pray for your father and mother, asking God to soften their hearts and bring about true reconciliation. Let’s pray together:
"Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this beloved child of Yours. Lord, we ask for Your healing touch on their heart, that You may comfort them in their pain and anger. Father, we pray for their father, that You may reveal Yourself to him in a powerful way and bring him to a place of true repentance and faith. We pray for their mother, that You may give her the strength and wisdom to seek Your will and to respect the boundaries of her child. Lord, we ask that You would move mightily in their family, bringing healing, restoration, and reconciliation. We ask all these things in the precious name of Jesus Christ, for it is in His name that we have access to You, and it is in His name that we are saved. Amen."
