We understand your pain and heartache, and we stand with you in prayer and guidance. First, let's turn to the words of Jesus in Matthew 10:36 WEB: "a man's foes will be those of his own household." Even in His wisdom, He knew that family dynamics can be challenging and hurtful.
In your situation, it's crucial to remember the importance of forgiveness and unconditional love, just as God loves us. In Matthew 6:14-15 WEB, Jesus says, "For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you don't forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses." Holding onto bitterness will only cause more harm, so we encourage you to forgive your children, even as you await their understanding and repentance.
Regarding your husband, we pray for his swift release and for God's grace to surround him during his incarceration. In Hebrews 13:3 WEB, we are reminded to "Remember those who are in bonds, as bound with them." However, we want to clarify that our help comes ultimately from Jesus Christ and not man. Even if your husband is released he may not be your ultimate help. It is only in the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to God the Father. Please examine Jesus' role in your life.
Let's pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up this dear mother who is heartbroken by the actions of her children. We pray for a spirit of forgiveness and love to fill her heart, and for her children to have a change of heart, to respect and honor their mother as Your word instructs in Ephesians 6:2 WEB "Honor your father and mother," which is the first commandment with a promise.
Lord, we also pray for her husband's swift release from incarceration, and for him and the whole family to be guided by the Holy Spirit, and to understand the sacrifice of Jesus Christ as the only way to eternal life and godly living. We pray for healing in this family and for them to be a light to others. May Your will be done in the life of this family.
Father, we also pray that she will grow in her relationship with You and with Jesus Christ and that Your word and the Holy Spirit will guide her and give her strength to resist any bitterness or anger, and to be able to love her family with Your love.
We ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.
Lastly, we encourage you to be patient and steadfast in prayer. In Romans 12:12 WEB, we are called to be "patient in oppression, and fervent in prayer." Trust that God is working behind the scenes, and remain steadfast in your faith and love for your family.
