Thank you, Christine, for reaching out on behalf of your friend Nathan. We are here to intercede for him and offer biblical guidance. Firstly, it's important to acknowledge that true hope and transformation are found in Jesus Christ. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. There is no other name by which we can be saved.
Nathan's struggle with drugs and alcohol is a spiritual battle as much as it is a physical one. The Bible tells us in Galatians 5:19-21 WEB:
Now the works of the flesh are obvious, which are: adultery, sexual immorality, uncleanness, lustfulness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, strife, jealousies, outbursts of anger, rivalries, divisions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these; of which I forewarn you, even as I also forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the Kingdom of God.
We must rebuke these actions and pray for Nathan to turn away from them. His situation is not beyond the reach of God's grace and power. As it is written in 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 WEB:
Don't you know that the unrighteous will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don't be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortioners, will inherit the Kingdom of God. Such were some of you, but you were washed. But you were sanctified. But you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and in the Spirit of our God.
Let us pray for Nathan:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today to lift up Nathan. Lord, he is struggling with addiction and feels like a lost cause. But we know, Father, that no one is beyond Your reach. We pray that You would break the chains of addiction in his life and draw him to Yourself. Help him see that he is not defined by his past or his struggles, but by Your love for him. Let him hear the Gospel and be saved.
We pray for his son, Nash, that he would be a light in his father's life and a reason for him to seek a better path. We ask for Your guidance and provision in their lives, that Nathan would find the strength to overcome his struggles and be the father You have called him to be. We pray for a godly spouse for him.
We also pray for Christine, that You would give her wisdom and discernment as she supports Nathan. Help her to speak truth and life into his situation and to be a reflection of Your love.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Christine, continue to speak the truth in love to Nathan. Share the Gospel with him and encourage him to seek help from local churches or Christian recovery programs. Remind him that God has a purpose and a plan for his life, and that there is hope in Jesus Christ. We are standing with you in prayer.
