My friend is struggling with drugs and alcohol. He had a tough upbringing (was never taught about God or Christ) He has such a kind heart still. He has a 4 year old son who he only sees part time. He has very little money. I believe he uses the drugs and alcohol to escape his reality often. I try to listen and support him, but he thinks he’s a lost cause , which makes me so sad. He lives his son so much. That’s the only thing that keeps him going. Please pray for his strength, guidance and some kind of positive favor he so badly needs. Thank you everyone. His name is Nathan. His son’s name is Nash. My name is Christine

Thank you, Christine, for reaching out on behalf of your friend Nathan. We are here to intercede for him and offer biblical guidance. Firstly, it's important to acknowledge that true hope and transformation are found in Jesus Christ. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. There is no other name by which we can be saved.

Nathan's struggle with drugs and alcohol is a spiritual battle as much as it is a physical one. The Bible tells us in Galatians 5:19-21 WEB:

Now the works of the flesh are obvious, which are: adultery, sexual immorality, uncleanness, lustfulness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, strife, jealousies, outbursts of anger, rivalries, divisions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these; of which I forewarn you, even as I also forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

We must rebuke these actions and pray for Nathan to turn away from them. His situation is not beyond the reach of God's grace and power. As it is written in 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 WEB:

Don't you know that the unrighteous will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don't be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortioners, will inherit the Kingdom of God. Such were some of you, but you were washed. But you were sanctified. But you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and in the Spirit of our God.

Let us pray for Nathan:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You today to lift up Nathan. Lord, he is struggling with addiction and feels like a lost cause. But we know, Father, that no one is beyond Your reach. We pray that You would break the chains of addiction in his life and draw him to Yourself. Help him see that he is not defined by his past or his struggles, but by Your love for him. Let him hear the Gospel and be saved.

We pray for his son, Nash, that he would be a light in his father's life and a reason for him to seek a better path. We ask for Your guidance and provision in their lives, that Nathan would find the strength to overcome his struggles and be the father You have called him to be. We pray for a godly spouse for him.

We also pray for Christine, that You would give her wisdom and discernment as she supports Nathan. Help her to speak truth and life into his situation and to be a reflection of Your love.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Christine, continue to speak the truth in love to Nathan. Share the Gospel with him and encourage him to seek help from local churches or Christian recovery programs. Remind him that God has a purpose and a plan for his life, and that there is hope in Jesus Christ. We are standing with you in prayer.

We're here for Nathan, Christine. We've been thinking about him and wanted to share a verse that's been on our hearts. In Psalm 147:3, it says, "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." Let's trust that God is tending to Nathan's wounds, even when he can't feel it yet. Let's pray that he'll sense God's love and comfort, even in the midst of his struggles.

We're also praying for strength and courage for Nathan to face his demons. That he'll find the will to break free from the chains of addiction and turn towards a brighter future. We're believing for a miracle, Christine, and we're here cheering him on every step of the way.

For Nash, we're asking God to protect and guide him. That he'll grow up knowing he's loved and valued, and that he'll be a beacon of hope for his dad.

And for you, Christine, we're praying for wisdom and patience. That you'll continue to be a beacon of love and support for Nathan, always pointing him towards hope and healing.

Let's keep lifting them up together, in Jesus' name.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. Thank You Jesus!!!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heavenly Father,
We lift up Nathan to You, a man with a kind heart who has faced many challenges in life. Lord, we know that no one is ever a lost cause in Your eyes, for You are the God of redemption, hope, and restoration. We ask that You guide Nathan toward healing and transformation, breaking the chains of addiction that weigh him down.

Your Word says in Psalm 34:18, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Father, draw near to Nathan in his struggles. Help him to see that he is not alone and that Your love and grace are available to him, no matter his past or present circumstances. Open his heart to Your truth, that he may come to know You and the peace that surpasses all understanding.

Lord, Nathan carries the love for his son, Nash, as a light in his life. We pray that this love would inspire and strengthen him to seek a brighter future. Guide him to see the potential and purpose You have for him, as promised in Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” May he hold tightly to the hope of this promise and trust in Your power to transform his life.

Father, we ask for Your provision and favor over Nathan’s life. Open doors for financial stability, opportunities for growth, and a supportive community to surround him. Help him to overcome the need to escape through substances, and instead, find his refuge in You. As Your Word declares in Psalm 46:1, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” May Nathan feel Your presence and strength in his weakest moments.

We also lift up Nash, a precious 4-year-old boy, and pray that he would feel his father’s love and care. Protect Nash and surround him with Your angels. Strengthen the bond between father and son, and let their relationship be a source of joy and encouragement for Nathan to keep moving forward.

Finally, Lord, we lift up Christine, who cares deeply for her friend. Grant her wisdom, patience, and strength as she offers support and encouragement to Nathan. Remind her that her prayers and love are powerful and meaningful in his journey. May she find comfort in Your promise in Galatians 6:9, “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”

In the name of Jesus, we declare hope, healing, and restoration over Nathan’s life. May he come to know the power of Your love and grace, and may his story become one of redemption and victory. Amen.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
