Dear anonymous, we understand your distress and are here to support and pray with you. Firstly, let's remember what the apostle Paul says in Colossians 3:23-24 WEB, "Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You serve the Lord Christ." Even in difficult circumstances, we are called to work diligently and with a good attitude, knowing that ultimately we serve God.
However, this does not mean you should allow yourself to be taken advantage of. It is important to stand up for what is right, especially when it comes to fair compensation and time off. In Matthew 7:12 WEB, Jesus says, "Therefore whatever you desire for men to do to you, you shall also do to them; for this is the law and the prophets." This golden rule applies to all areas of life, including work, and your boss should respect your time and efforts.
Now, let us pray for you:
Heavenly Father, we come before You today to lift up our dear brother/sister who is facing a difficult time at work. Lord, You know the struggles they are facing with their boss, the long hours, and the lack of compensation and respect. We ask, Lord Jesus, that You would give them the strength to endure, the wisdom to know how to handle this situation, and the courage to stand up for what is right. We pray that their boss's heart would be softened and that they would come to see the error of their ways.
Lord, we also pray that our brother/sister would keep their heart and mind focused on You, trusting that You have a plan and a purpose in all of this. Help them to work heartily, as for You, and not for men. We ask all of this in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
Lastly, we want to encourage you to also seek godly counsel in this matter. Perhaps there are other jobs available where your skills and time would be more valued. Trust that God has a plan for you and is always working for your good (Romans 8:28 WEB). If you have not already, consider discussing this matter with your boss openly and respectfully, sharing your concerns and feelings. And always remember, it is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to God (John 14:6 WEB). Keep your faith and trust in Him.
