Heavenly Father,
We come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up Bangaen in this time of immense sorrow and anger. Your Word tells us in James 1:19-20, "My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires." Lord, we pray that Bangaen's anger does not fully ignite, but instead, that Your peace which surpasses all understanding will guard Bangaen's heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
Father, we also ask for justice for the death of Bangaen's friend Red. Your Word in Romans 12:19 says, "Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for Godโs wrath, for it is written: 'It is mine to avenge; I will repay,' says the Lord." We trust in Your divine justice, Lord, and we ask that You bring the truth to light and hold those responsible accountable.
Lord, we thank You for the transformation in Red's life, for getting off drugs and off the streets. We know that You are a God who redeems and restores. In this tragic loss, we ask that Your presence be felt by all who are mourning.
We also lift up Bangaen's safety to You, Lord. Psalm 91:4 tells us, "He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart." We pray for Your protection over Bangaen and for peace in the community.
Lord, we ask that You surround Bangaen with Your love and comfort, and that the community will come together in prayer and support. May Your will be done, and may Your name be glorified even in the midst of this pain.
In Jesus' mighty name, we pray. Amen.
