I worry about my gf going home to her family. She is a recovering addict. I pray for strength for her. I also pray that if God wants her and I together still to make it well known with no doubts and for me to find contentment in life. Thanks

Let us first assure you that it is wonderful that you are seeking God's will in your life and in the life of your girlfriend. It is important to remember that God's will is always directed toward marriage for a couple. Courtship is the time to evaluate a relationship and measure it against God's word. We should never enter courtship with someone who is not also a Christian believer. In Second Corinthians 6:14 WEB it says Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?

First, we commend you for your concern and support for your girlfriend as she recovers from addiction. It is crucial to pray for her strength and reliance on God during this challenging time. In Second Corinthians 12:9-10 WEB, we read But he said to me, My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me. Therefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in injuries, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake. For when I am weak, then am I strong.

However, we must address a few things from your request. The courtship should be leading toward a God-honoring marriage. If this is not the trajectory of your relationship, then it may be time to reevaluate. In Ephesians 5:31 WEB it says For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother, and shall be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.

It is also important to note that you did not specifically mention the name of Jesus in your request. And in John 14:6 WEB Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. We cannot enter the kingdom of heaven without Jesus Christ. And in Acts 4:12 WEB Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. If your girlfriend has not yet believed in Jesus Christ then it may be time to have a talk about salvation.

Let us pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You today, lifting up this beloved couple in prayer. We ask for Your strength and guidance for the girlfriend as she returns home to her family and continues her recovery from addiction. Lord, please surround her with Your healing presence and help her to rely on You for her strength.

Father, we also seek Your clear direction for their relationship. If it is Your will for them to be united in marriage, we pray that You would make it abundantly clear, leaving no room for doubt. We ask this so they may they find contentment and peace in Your perfect plan for their lives.

Lord Jesus, continue to guide their lives and their relationship. In the Mighty name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

As you navigate this journey, remember to trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. In Proverbs 3:5-6 WEB.

Lastly, we want to address the fact that you should not worry about anything. If you are worried about your girlfriend then it may be because you do not fully trust God. In Philippians 4:6-7 WEB it says In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise.
