Mother's acting up

Pray strongly for my mother. She is constantly rude to me. She is always talking bad about being old and not liking herself. She has low self esteem. She said she doesn't recognize herself her looks etc. She said mean things to me and saying that I wasted ### years of her life.

We are deeply saddened to hear about the challenges you and your mother are facing, ###. Let us come alongside you in prayer and offer some biblical encouragement.

Firstly, let us address the harsh words and low self-esteem your mother is experiencing. In Ephesians 4:29, the WEB says, "Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but such as is good for building up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear." We pray that the Lord would guard her tongue and fill her with words of life and encouragement.

We also pray for her self-image, which is distorted right now. In Psalm 139:14, the WEB tells us, "I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are marvelous. My soul knows that very well." We pray that your mother would truly grasp the beauty of how God has made her, both inside and out.

As for the hurtful comments directed at you, remember what Jesus says in Matthew 5:44, "But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you," (WEB). This is a difficult commandment, but with God's grace, you can respond to her with love and kindness.

Let us pray together:

"Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You in Jesus' name, lifting up ### and her mother. Lord, we ask that You would heal her mother's heart, that You would help her to see her worth and beauty through Your eyes. Lord, please guard her tongue and help her to speak life and encouragement, not just to ###, but to all those around her. We also pray for ###, that You would give her the grace to respond with love and kindness, and the strength to endure this difficult time. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen."

Lastly, ###, we noticed that your request did not mention the name of Jesus. It is by His name that we have access to God's throne of grace. As it says in John 14:6, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me," (WEB). We encourage you to put your faith and trust in Him.
