We extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to you, Tyeri, during this time of loss. It's never easy to say goodbye to a loved one, especially a mother. We are here to pray with you and offer comfort through God's word.
Firstly, we want to remind you of the hope that we have in Jesus Christ. He said, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will still live, even if he dies. Whoever lives and believes in me will never die." (John 11:25-26 WEB) This is the promise of eternal life that we can claim for those who have passed on, if they trusted in Jesus.
However, we notice that your request does not mention Jesus Christ or your mother's faith. We want to gently remind you that it is only through faith in Jesus Christ that one can be saved and have eternal life. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6 WEB) If your mother knew the Lord, you can take comfort in knowing that she is now with Him. If not, we encourage you to take this time to reflect on your own relationship with Jesus and to ensure that you have accepted Him as your Lord and Savior.
Let us pray for you and your mother, Jean McDonald:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today to lift up Tyeri and their family in prayer. Lord, they are grieving the loss of their mother, Jean. We ask that You comfort them in this time of sorrow. Remind them of the hope that we have in Jesus and that for those who believe, death is not the end but a new beginning. Lord, if Jean knew You, we pray that she is now resting in Your presence. If not, we pray that her passing would be a reminder to her loved ones of the importance of a personal relationship with You. Be with Tyeri as they travel to Scotland for the funeral. Give them strength and peace that surpasses all understanding. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Lastly, we leave you with these words from 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 (WEB), "But we don't want you to be ignorant, brothers, concerning those who have fallen asleep, so that you don't grieve like the rest, who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus."
