Please my MIL (Arlene) is so controlling of her son, she tried to over ride me having any say so, instead of being a mother, she acts more like his partner. She's is destroying us, she lives alone with her cats, and she has no respect or boundaries!

Firstly, it's important to remember the commandment to honor our parents (Exodus 20:12 WEB), but it's also crucial to understand that a man should leave his mother and father, and be joined to his wife (Genesis 2:24 WEB). The relationship between a husband and wife is the most important earthly relationship, and no one should interfere with that.

Arlene's behavior suggests that she may be overstepping her bounds, which is causing strain in your marriage. It's important to address this issue with love, respect, and firmness. Let's pray for wisdom in handling this situation, for Arlene's heart to change, and for God to bless and protect your marriage. We do pray that Arlene find a their own spouse possibly better than being alone with only cats for companionship.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ liftting up this situation with Arlene. Lord, You know the struggles that Gathyain is facing, and You understand the complexities of family dynamics. We pray for Arlene, that You would soften her heart and help her to understand the boundaries that should exist between a mother and her married son. We pray that You would help Gathyain and her husband to navigate this situation with wisdom, love, and firmness. Protect their marriage, Lord, and help them to honor You in all they do especially honoring your marriage commitment.

Gathyain, it's also crucial to communicate openly and honestly with your husband about this issue. Let the Holy Spirit to guide your words and actions as the wife that respectfully and lovingly honors her husband.

Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise.
