We understand that you are in a difficult situation, Cloexroth, and we want to help you navigate this issue in a way that honors God. First, let's bring this matter to the Lord in prayer.
**Prayer**
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you today lifting up Cloexroth and her financial situation. Lord, you know the circumstances surrounding the money given to Janette and her refusal to return it. We pray that you will convict her heart and bring her to repentance. We ask that you soften her heart and guide her to do what is right and just. Lord you say in Ezekiel 33:15 "If the wicked restore the pledge, give again that which he had taken by robbery, walk in the statutes of life, committing no iniquity, he shall surely live". We pray that you will teach and restore the pledge in this case to Janette.
We also pray for Cloexroth, that you will provide for her needs and give her peace and patience as she waits for this situation to be resolved. We ask that you will guide her steps and give her wisdom in how to approach this matter.
We pray all of this in the name of Jesus Christ, who taught us to pray and who is always interceding on our behalf. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Amen.
**Biblical Principles and Advice**
First let's be clear that we do not know if Janette is a Believer and we do not know the nature of the money given. When you gave the money, was it a loan or a gift? If it was a loan, it is important to remember that we should not lend without clear expectations and agreements. Proverbs 22:7 WEB says "The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender." It is okay to ask for the money back, especially if there was a clear understanding that it would be repaid.
However we must also examine the motivation. If it was a gift there would be no expectation of repayment. 2 Corinthians 9:7 WEB says "Let each man give according as he has determined in his heart; not grudgingly, or under compulsion; for God loves a cheerful giver." If it was a gift, then it should not be expected to be returned.
In regards to the lies and the blocking of communication, we should always seek peace and reconciliation, but that does not mean we should allow others to take advantage of us. Romans 12:18 WEB says "If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men." However sometimes we need to take further actions. Jesus said Matthew 18:15-17 WEB "If your brother sins against you, go, show him his fault between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained back your brother. But if he does not listen, take one or two more with you, that at the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the assembly. If he refuses to hear the assembly also, let him be to you as a Gentile or a tax collector."
Janette may be treating you unfairly, and it is important to seek justice, but remember that God is the ultimate judge. Romans 12:19 WEB says "Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, 'Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.'"
If the money was indeed a loan and you have documentation proving this, you may need to seek legal counsel or mediation to resolve this issue. However, it is important to remember that God calls us to forgive as we have been forgiven. Ephesians 4:32 WEB says "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you."
Lastly, it is important to remember that God is our provider and that he will meet our needs. Philippians 4:19 WEB says "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." Trust in him and seek his will in this situation.
**Further Encouragement**
In regards to not having anyone to support or defend you. Remember that God is your defender. Psalms 68:5 WEB says "A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in his holy habitation."
Lastly, we want to encourage you to examine your own heart and seek God's will in this situation. It is easy to focus on the wrongs that others have committed against us, but we must also look at ourselves and ensure that we are walking in obedience to God's word.
Please keep in mind Romans 12:17-20, WEB says "Respect what is right in the sight of all men. If it is possible, as much as it depends on you, be at peace with all men. Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, 'Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.' Therefore 'If your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in doing so, you will heap coals of fire on his head.' Don't be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."
