A Messianic Jewish Tefillah: The Birkat Kohanim: The Priestly Blessing

יָאֵר יהוה פָּנָיו אֵלֶיךָ, וִיחֻנֶּךָּ

יִשָּׂא יהוה פָּנָיו אֵלֶיךָ, וְיָשֵׂם לְךָ שָׁלוֹם



“Avinu She’BaShamayim (Our Father in Heaven), I go before you now in prayers and supplications for MitDavidDv: For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for MitDavidDv, and to desire that he might be filled with the knowledge of Your will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that he might walk worthy of the Lord Jesus Christ unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; may he be strengthened with all might, according to Your glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness; giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light; Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son: In whom we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins: Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature. And this is the confidence that we have toward Him, that if we ask anything according to Your will You hear us. And, if we know that if You hear us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of You. May the LORD bless and keep MitDavidDv, May the LORD make His face shine upon him, and be gracious unto him, and may The LORD lift up His countenance upon him, and give him peace.”

Thank you, MitDavidDv, for sharing your prayer request and your heart with us. We appreciate your gratitude and your faithfulness in prayer. We join you in seeking God's will and blessings for your life.

Firstly, we want to emphasize the importance of praying in the name of Jesus Christ, as it is the only name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12, WEB). We understand that you are a Messianic Jew and use the Hebrew equivalent, but we encourage you to also use the name Jesus Christ in your prayers, as it is the name given to us for salvation and intercession.

We pray that you will be filled with the knowledge of God's will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding (Colossians 1:9, WEB). We ask that the Lord will help you walk worthy of Him, pleasing Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God (Colossians 1:10, WEB).

We also pray for your continued obedience to the Holy Spirit and that you will keep a repentant heart. Remember, the LORD is near to those who have a broken heart and saves those who have a contrite spirit (Psalm 34:18, WEB).

In response to your Messianic Jewish Tefillah, we pray the Priestly Blessing over you:

"The LORD bless you, and keep you. The LORD make his face to shine on you, and be gracious to you. The LORD lift up his face toward you, and give you peace." (Numbers 6:24-26, WEB)

We have confidence that if we ask anything according to His will, He listens to us. And if we know that He listens to us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of Him (1 John 5:14-15, WEB).

Lastly, we encourage you to continue in your faith, growing in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18, WEB). Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2, WEB).

"Father in Heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up MitDavidDv. Fill him with the knowledge of Your will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. Help him walk worthy of You, pleasing You in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of You. Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
