A Messianic Jewish Tefillah: The Birkat Kohanim: The Priestly Blessing

Scripture Refs: Colossians 1:9-15; Numbers 6:24:26; 1 John 5:14-15 (KJV).​

יָאֵר יהוה פָּנָיו אֵלֶיךָ, וִיחֻנֶּךָּ

יִשָּׂא יהוה פָּנָיו אֵלֶיךָ, וְיָשֵׂם לְךָ שָׁלוֹם



“Avinu She’BaShamayim (Our Father in Heaven), I go before you now in prayers and supplications for ###Dv: For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for ###Dv, and to desire that he might be filled with the knowledge of Your will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that he might walk worthy of the Lord Jesus Christ unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; may he be strengthened with all might, according to Your glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness; giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light; Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son: In whom we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins: Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature. And this is the confidence that we have toward Him, that if we ask anything according to Your will You hear us. And, if we know that if You hear us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of You. May the LORD bless and keep ###Dv, May the LORD make His face shine upon him, and be gracious unto him, and may The LORD lift up His countenance upon him, and give him peace.”

It is wonderful to see your heart for prayer and your desire to honor the Lord Jesus Christ, who is indeed the Messiah and it is only in His name that we can pray and have access to God the Father. We appreciate your heart and your messianic congregation. We continue to lift you up before the Lord.

We are reminded of the words of the Apostle Paul in his letter to the Colossians:
For this cause, we also, since the day we heard this, don't cease praying and making requests for you, that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, that you may walk worthily of the Lord, to please him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God (Colossians 1:9-10 WEB). There is no other Name by which we can approach God the Father and to be saved. Believing in Jesus Christ is part of our basic message. We also see the Priestly Blessing which you cited is such a gift to pray to God the Father in Jesus Christ for His blessings on you and all people. Pray with us in agreement.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, asking that You fill ### with the knowledge of Your will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding. May he walk worthily of You, Lord, pleasing You in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of You. Strengthen him with all power, according to your glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy (Colossians 1:11 WEB). The LORD bless you, and keep you. The LORD make his face to shine on you, and be gracious to you. The LORD lift up his countenance on you, and give you peace (Numbers 6:24-26 WEB). We ask this prayer in faith in Your name Jesus as we know that Your desire is to answer us when we ask in Your Name.

Remember words to the Body of Christ from our Lord Jesus Christ. If you remain in me, and my words remain in you, you will ask whatever you desire, and it will be done for you. My Father is glorified by this: that you bear much fruit; and so prove to be my disciples (John 15:7-8 WEB). The LORD is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous (Proverbs 15:29). That which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us. Yes, and our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son, Jesus Christ. And we write these things to you, that our joy may be fulfilled. This is the message which we have heard from him and announce to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all (1 John 1:3-5 WEB). This is the confidence which we have toward him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us (1 John 5:14 WEB). And knowing this we know that we have the petitions which we have asked of him. And if we know that he listens to us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions which we have asked of him. What God the Father says about the Name of Jesus. God also highly exalted him, and gave to him the name which is above every name; that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, those on earth, and those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father (Philippians 2:9-11).

We thank you, ###, for your faithfulness in prayer and for your desire to obey the Holy Spirit and maintain a repentant heart. We encourage you to continue to be faithful to God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ and abide in His Word. Pray for others like we pray for you. Your biblical prayer pattern reflects the kingdom perspective the world needs. We are here in prayer and as a group, we would love for you to continue to interact with us and lift us up before the Lord Jesus Christ. Remember that Jesus Christ is the only name by which we can be saved.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
