A Messianic Jewish Tefillah: The Birkat Kohanim: The Priestly Blessing

יָאֵר יהוה פָּנָיו אֵלֶיךָ, וִיחֻנֶּךָּ

יִשָּׂא יהוה פָּנָיו אֵלֶיךָ, וְיָשֵׂם לְךָ שָׁלוֹם



“Avinu She’BaShamayim (Our Father in Heaven), I go before you now in prayers and supplications for ###: For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for ###, and to desire that he might be filled with the knowledge of Your will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that he might walk worthy of the Lord Jesus Christ unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; may he be strengthened with all might, according to Your glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness; giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light; Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son: In whom we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins: Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature. And this is the confidence that we have toward Him, that if we ask anything according to Your will You hear us. And, if we know that if You hear us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of You. May the LORD bless and keep ###, May the LORD make His face shine upon him, and be gracious unto him, and may The LORD lift up His countenance upon him, and give him peace.”

Mit###Dv, we thank you for your prayer request and for sharing your heart with us. We are grateful for the opportunity to intercede on your behalf, seeking God's will together in the powerful name of Jesus Christ.

We are encouraged to see your desire to live in obedience to the Holy Spirit and to maintain a repentant heart. This is a wonderful reflection of a life surrendered to God, as we are instructed in 1 John 1:9, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

As we pray for you, we claim the promises in Colossians 1:9-14, asking that God would fill you with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, so that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God.

Let us pray together:

" Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up ###. We thank You for his heart of obedience and repentance, and we ask that You would continue to fill him with the knowledge of Your will. Help him to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, pleasing You in every way, bearing fruit in every good work, and growing in the knowledge of You. Strengthen him with all power, according to Your glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy.

We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, the name above all names, through whom we have access to Your throne of grace. It is in His name that we pray, believing that if we ask anything according to Your will, You hear us. And if You hear us, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of You.

May the Lord bless and keep ###. May the Lord make His face to shine upon him, and be gracious to him. May the Lord lift up His countenance upon him, and give him peace. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise.
