Shall the disciples of the Lord cower when faced with misapplied scriptural accusations of religious bullies, particularly part about "lack of self control?" The same accusations were levied against Jesus, by the Pharisees, when He overturned the temple tables. They accused Him of being out of control and even called Him Beelzebub because, as they said He was being disrespectful to God, blind to the TRUTH that He was God in the flesh.
2 Timothy 3:2-5 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God — having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.
Or shall we, as God's called, operate in obedience to His instructions?
Isaiah 58:1 "Shout it aloud, do not hold back. Raise your voice like a trumpet. Declare to my people their rebellion and to the descendants of Jacob their sins."
Matthew 10:27 "What I am telling you in the dark you must repeat in broad daylight, and what you have heard in private you must announce from the housetops."
God's people must have a Spirit of discernment when confronted with the Word of TRUTH; and yes sometimes, as with the temple encounter, the Word of TRUTH can be quite confrontational.
God is never wrong in His predictions or instructions: Nor does His Word ever fail. Retaliation towards others is never acceptable in God's eyes, especially when they are following God's instructions in ministry. Howbeit, as God’s servant, the use of prayer as a weapon of warfare sgainst such retaliation is not only acceptable, but commanded. For vengeance belongs to God.
Dear Heavenly FATHER, I place all hateful deeds, scornful looks, insults, and accusations into Your hands. In Jesus' name. Amen.
