We are truly sorry to hear about the loss you and your friend have experienced. In times like these, it's important to remember that God cares about every detail of our lives, including the seemingly small ones. In the World English Bible (WEB), we read, "Don't be anxious for anything, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God." Philippians 4:6 WEB
First, we strong urge and pray that both of you are actual Christians by accepting and believing in Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savoir. We worship Jesus Christ. We rely upon his death that provided a means of forgiveness of our sins and enables eternal life with God by grace and faith alone. We call this the Gospel. All believers receive the Holy Spirit that serves to convict, guide, and empower us to live in the way Jesus wants us to live especially human relationships. Jesus should be addressed if he is not and was not in your prayer already. We remind you of what the Bible says about Jesus:
"for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God;" (WEB Romans 3:23)
"9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in him will not be disappointed.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, and is rich to all who call on him. 13 For, “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Romans 10:9-13)
There is no other means to salvation or to receive what is asked in a prayer.
10 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light: 11 who in time past were no people, but now are the people of God, who had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy." (WEB 1 Peter 2:9-10)
You mention "my friend". We would pray that the person you mention is actually a Christian woman that actually should be considered a prospective Christian spouse with the goal being a godly marriage. Clearly, we would urge you to avoid anything immoral such as sex before marriage. It is actually to your advantage to avoid sex before being married.
God is certainly able to direct both of you to the lost item. We pray for wisdom and guidance as you search, and we trust that God will bring it to light according to His will. Remember, "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of the giving God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” James 1:5 It is good to remember that all we ask has to part of His will.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up our brother and the situation he and his friend are facing.
Lord, we ask that you give him the strength and wisdom to interact with his friend in the way to honor you and be a testimony of you to her.
We trust that nothing can separate us from the love that Christ has for us. We cherish the relationship you gave us with yourself that lets all Christians call you Daddy. We pray that you help him help the two friends to trust that all Christians have peace with God.
We pray that you will guide our friends to the lost item,
but more than that help us to understand your will.
We pray that all our requests will be judged acceptable because we have Jesus as our Lord and Saviour. We understand it is why Jesus followed His plan to die when it was an unjust injustice. Every believer has access to you.
We understand only Christians understand that they can go to you because of Jesus Christ.
We also pray that his friend is a godly Christian and it turns out that the two form a godly marriage that is honorable to all.
We pray that you keep both of us from the lusts that are typical in our current culture. We understand marriage is an appointed way for Christians to have a physical relationship.
We pray that you will let it be found if it be your will.
We pray all these things in the powerful name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
In the mean time, may you have the grace and peace of the Lord Jesus Christ.
