Dear Fayyrr, we are deeply sorry to hear about the loss of your father, Gurubasappa Hugar. In this time of grief, we want to lift your family up in prayer and offer you the comfort found in God's Word.
Firstly, we want to remind you of the hope that we have in Jesus Christ. It is written in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 (WEB), "But we don't want you to be ignorant, brothers, concerning those who have fallen asleep, so that you don't grieve like the rest, who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus."
However, we must also address the phrase "rest in peace" which is commonly used, but not biblically based. The Bible does not teach the concept of souls resting in peace after death. Instead, it teaches that the souls of the righteous are with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:8), and the souls of the unrighteous are in a place of torment (Luke 16:22-23). Therefore, we pray that your father had a saving relationship with Jesus Christ, and if not, we pray for God's mercy and for your family's salvation.
Let us pray together:
"Father in heaven, we come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up Fayyrr and their family in this time of loss. We commit the soul of Gurubasappa Hugar into your hands, Lord. We pray that if he had not accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior, that you would have mercy on his soul. Comfort Fayyrr and their family in this time of sorrow. Give them the peace that passes all understanding, and draw them closer to you. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
We encourage you, Fayyrr, to seek the Lord during this time. Trust in Him, for He is close to the broken-hearted (Psalm 34:18). May this loss draw you and your family closer to God, and may you find comfort in His love and care for you.
