We understand your heartfelt concern for those who are lonely and desire that they find a sense of belonging in families. However, we want to remind you that the familial bond we experience on earth is a shadow of the eternal family we have in Christ Jesus. When we put our faith in Jesus, we become part of God's family, and He calls us His children. As it is written in Ephesians 1:5 WEB, "having predestined us for adoption as children through Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his desire."
Let us focus first and foremost on our need for Jesus and to be a part of his church. That is the Christian's family.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up all those who feel lonely and isolated. We pray that they may find their ultimate comfort and belonging in You. We ask that You will bring them into Your family, along with a loving community of believers, that they may experience the love of Christ that surpasses all understanding. Help them understand that their eternal family is found in You, through faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God. We pray for your church to reach out to the lonely.
We also pray for those who desire earthly families, that You will guide them to godly spouses and support systems. We ask that You will help them to find their spouses if that is Your will for them. We pray for them being equally yoked and for godly marriages that honor You, Father. Help them to live lives that are pleasing to You, trusting in Your perfect plan.
Please, do not allow any desires for families to distract us from our desire for Jesus Christ. Help us to remember that our true home is with you, Father.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage everyone feeling lonely to seek Jesus first. He is the source for all our needs and is the only Savior and Redeemer who can fill our hearts with hope and purpose. Remember that it is only by the name of Jesus that we can be saved and enter into the family of God. Acts: 4:12 WEB Neither is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved.
To become a part of God's family, we must believe in Jesus Christ. Romans 10:9-11 9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart, one believes resulting in righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in him will not be disappointed.”
