We understand that you are hurting and longing for the return of your ex-girlfriend. It's commendable that you have found sobriety and desire to treat her well. However, let's align our hearts with God's will and His word.
Firstly, it's important to remember that God's desire is for us to be holy and to follow His principles. In 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5 WEB, it says, "For this is the will of God: your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality, that each one of you know how to possess himself of his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in the passion of lust, even as the Gentiles who don't know God." Therefore, it should not be our goal to simply have our desires fulfilled, but to pursue holiness and righteousness. Courtship should be a process designed to find a godly wife. Make sure to not fall into temptation by allowing fornication or sexual immorality.
Secondly, while it is not wrong to pray for a miracle, we must also accept God's will. In Matthew 6:10 WEB, Jesus teaches us to pray, "Let your Kingdom come. Let your will be done, as in heaven, so on earth." We should seek God's will, not our own. We pray for God's best in her life and yours, whether that means reconciliation or moving forward separately.
Let's pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in Jesus' name, lifting up our brother who is hurting. We thank You for the sobriety You've granted him and the love You've placed in his heart. We ask that Your will be done in his life and in the life of his ex-girlfriend. Guide them both according to Your purposes. Help him to pursue holiness and righteousness, and to trust in Your plan. Comfort his heart and help him to find peace and joy in You, regardless of the outcome.
If it is Your will, Lord, we ask that You would restore this relationship and use it for Your glory. Help them to seek You first, and to build a relationship that honors You. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Be encouraged by Philippians 4:6-7 WEB, "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus." Trust in God, and He will give you His peace.
