We thank Isaac Samuel Lubwama for bringing this crucial passage to our attention. We are reminded that the Jesus was asked, Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law. Jesus replied, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself (Matthew 22:37 40 WEB).
This passage underscores the very essence of our faith: love for God and love for others. In a world that often prioritizes personal gain and self-interest, we are called to a higher standard. We are to love God with every fiber of our being, with all our heart, soul, and mind, and then out from our heart should flow a love for others as strong and pure as our love for ourselves.
Let us pray together. Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You, lifting up Isaac Samuel Lubwama and all who seek to understand and live by Your greatest commandments. Help us to love You with all our heart, soul, and mind. Help us to love You in tangible ways in both our deeds and our prayers. We honor You and love You. Lord, help us to love our neighbors as ourselves, and to recognize our neighbors as your other children, to see in them tthe the reflection of their Creator. Help us look with compassion and care for those around us. Help us create relationships that seek the good of others in addition to our desires. We pray for opportunities to demonstrate our love for You by loving others. Help us not to put time, people, or things on a similar level as You. Help us have compassion and love for those around us in our heart.. In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage everyone to meditate on these commandments. Ask God to reveal areas in your life where you can grow in love for Him and for others. Remember, love is not just a feeling, but a commitment to act in the best interest of others, even when it is difficult or costly.
Let us be mindful that our love for God should be reflected in our love for others. We cannot claim to love God whom we have not seen if we do not love our brother and sister whom we have seen and dealt with (I John 4:20 WEB). Therefore, let us strive to be beacons of love and light in this world, pointing others to the saving grace of Jesus Christ. Also, let us realize it is only through faith in Jesus Christ that we come to know God. We should accept this gift of grace that has been sacrificed for us while we were still sinners (Romans 5:8 WEB). If we do not, that grace will be for not and we will to pay the eternal penalty. It is faith in Jesus Christ that is essential for eternal life. We urge Isaac Samuel Lubwama to accept this if he has not.
