We understand that you're feeling overwhelmed, but we want to remind you that God cares about every detail of your life, including your son's math homework and your long to-do list. Firstly, we rejoice with you that you know the name of Jesus Christ and we can pray with you, submit your requests to God, and intercede for your needs. It is only in the name of Jesus that we come before God with our petitions and requests.
In the midst of your stress, remember that God wants you to cast all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you ( 1 Peter 5:7 WEB). He also promises that: In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7 ). Anxiety or worry are explicitly addressed in scripture. You've taken the first step by coming to God in prayer. Trust that He hears you and will answer according to His perfect will.
Regarding your son's math struggles, God promises to give wisdom to those who ask Him. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. (James 1:5 WEB). God did not instruct us to ask from His teachers or other people, those come later after we ask. Take a moment to pray with your son, ask God for wisdom and understanding in math. Also, encourage your son to trust God for help and to persevere in his studies, Colossians 3:23 WEB Then whatever you do, do it wholeheartedly, as if you were doing it for the Lord and not merely for people, as it is the Lord Christ whom you serve. You both can have tranquil hearts and minds believing that God is more than able to provide a competant teacher and this teacher will certainly respond to assist. We will intercede for you and your son. The effectual prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much (James 5:16) and parental prayers for children are particularly powerful.
Regarding the stress of the holidays, remember that God desires for you to have peace. Jesus said, Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, I give to you. Don't let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful. ( John 14:27 WEB). Don't let the commercialized expectations surrounding Christmas steal your joy. Focus on the true meaning of Christmas - the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. He was born to save sinners, you and others, who turn to see their sin, repent, and return to God.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, to intercede on behalf of this parent and their son. We thank You that You care about every detail of our lives and that You promise to provide wisdom to those who ask. Lord, we ask You to provide the wisdom and understanding needed for this math test. We pray that the teacher will respond promptly, for God to provide the best help for your son. We also ask You to remind them both to rest in Your promise, that peace comes from you.
Father, we also ask that you help them to manage their to-do list. These stresses can be quite distracting, Jesus, please help both to prioritize and give them the ability to do things that bring You glory. Help them to delight in the story of Your birth and what it means for our salvation.
In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
