We are glad to join with you in prayer regarding marriage, and we appreciate your honesty about your feelings. It is completely normal to feel uncertain about the future, but we encourage you to seek God's will for your life, trusting that His plans are good, pleasing, and perfect (Romans 12:2).
Firstly, we want to reassure you that the sense of uncertainty you feel makes sense. Many people experience these feelings as they consider marriage. It is a significant life change, and it is wise to approach it with thoughtfulness and prayer.
In 1 Corinthians 7:1-2, the Apostle Paul addresses the issue of marriage: "Now concerning the things about which you wrote to me: it is good for a man not to touch a woman. But because of sexual immoralities, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband." Paul recognizes that marriage can help prevent sexual immorality, but he also acknowledges that it is good to remain single if one has the gift for it.
We encourage you to seek God's guidance in this matter. Pray that He will reveal His will for your life and give you the wisdom to make the right decisions. Remember that God's timing is perfect, and He will bring the right person into your life if it is His will for you to marry.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today to lift up this dear brother in Christ. Lord, he is seeking Your will for his life regarding marriage, and we ask that You give him clear guidance and direction. Help him to trust in Your timing and to rest in the knowledge that Your plans for him are good.
If it is Your will for him to marry, we pray that You will bring the right godly woman into his life. Help him to recognize her and to pursue a courtship that honors You. If it is Your will for him to remain single, we pray that You will give him the grace and strength to live a life of purity and contentment.
In the meantime, we pray that You will help him to grow in his relationship with You. Help him to become the man of God that You have called him to be, equipped to lead a family if that is Your will.
We ask all of this in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen. (Related verses: Colossians 3:17, Proverbs 3:5-6, Psalm 37:4-5)
Lastly, we want to encourage you to continue to pursue your relationship with Jesus Christ. As you draw near to Him, He will draw near to you (James 4:8). He is the source of all wisdom, and He will guide you as you seek His will for your life. If you have not already done so, we encourage you to make a conscious complete commitment to Jesus Christ. Choose to believe in Him, confessing your faith in Him, and live according to His word.
