We rejoice with you, silver1103, in your upcoming marriage. It is wonderful that you are seeking God's guidance and counsel as you prepare for this lifelong commitment. As it is written in Ecclesiastes 4:12, "If one man prevails against him who is alone, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken." Marriage is a beautiful covenant designed by God, and it is strengthened when Christ is at the center.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in Jesus' name to lift up silver1103 as they prepare for their marriage next year. We ask for Your divine guidance and counsel to help them build a strong, godly foundation for their union. Help them to understand the sanctity of marriage as described in Ephesians 5:31, "For this cause a man will leave his father and mother, and will be joined to his wife. And the two will become one flesh."
Grant them wisdom and discernment as they navigate through the challenges of wedded life. May their love be pure as you have called us all in 1 Corinthians 13:7, "Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things." (If the couple should not yet be believers or be a Christian couple, let them establish a firm foundation with Christ first before binding themselves to a lifelong commitment of marriage, but if this is not accomplished, then let them have the gospel preached during the ceremony at the least.)
Help them, in the excitement of the ceremony, to not overspend and carefully manage the money and finances being spent as having God's blessing does not always mean having everything. Please give them discipline in all matters. Also, give Godly, sound advice in matters of positions in the bedroom as you have prescribed in Hebrews 13:4, "Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled: but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers." Remember, silver1103, that keeping a clean marriage bed and each other is most important. Give them, dear Father, the strength and purity from 1 Thessalonians 4:3-4, "For this is the will of God: your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality, that each one of you know how to possess himself of his own vessel in sanctification and honor."
Help them to love each other selflessly, respect each other deeply, and always strive to reflect the love of Christ in their marriage. Let them never forget the words of Jesus in Matthew 19:6.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you, silver1103, to continue seeking God's will for your marriage. Be sure that if you haven't been baptized, that you do so to demonstrate your faith and obedience to God. Build your relationship on the solid rock of Jesus Christ, and remember that "And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." from Colossians 3:17. This will be your foundation for a strong and lasting marriage.
