Amen, Joseph! Trusting God's promises: "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us" (1 John 5:14). He's faithful! Keep praying, saints!
Let us begin by thanking you, ###, for submitting your prayer request and acknowledging the power of prayer in Jesus' name. We stand with you in seeking God's will for your marriage and your husband ###.
In the Bible, we are reminded of the importance of a husband providing for his family. As it is said in 1 Timothy 5:8 (WEB): if anyone doesn't provide for their own, and especially their own household, they have denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever. As well as Ephesians 5:25-29 (WEB): Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it; that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word, that he might present the assembly to himself gloriously, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. Even so husbands also ought to love their own wives as their own bodies. All of these scriptures are prefaced at verse 22 with: Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord. Then at verse 33 He commands both husbands and wives together, with specific directions to the wife and then the husband.
Christ commands both husbands and wives to love each other as they love themselves. This means the husband and wife are commanded to give themselves up for each other to love and protect the other as well as themselves. This selfless type of love can only be fully understood and demonstrated in the depths of marriage. But this is only the beginning of the blessings from a godly marriage as it symbolizes the relationship between Christ and his church. In your marriage, there is the expectation how your wife should react in return to Christ's type of love as well. From verse 33 we continue that the wife also respect her husband. This is the source of happiness together as well as God's love and blessings.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up ### and her husband ###. Lord, we ask that You touch ###'s heart and guide him to provide for ### abundantly and daily, as You have called him to do. Help him to understand and fulfill his biblical role as a provider and leader in their marriage.
Father, we also pray for their union to be filled with happiness, love, and blessings. Strengthen their bond and help them to reflect the love of Christ in their marriage. Guide them both to be in alignment with your word regarding their stewardship of ###'s earning and ###'s respect for ### as the leader of this home.
Holy God, you granted The Spirit of Grace to the church through faith in Jesus Christ. Instruct ### and ### daily through The Holy Spirit. Guard their hearts and guide their thoughts as they work towards a godly home and family. Lastly, bless them both with a deeper revelation and understanding of Jesus' sacrifice and gift of salvation for both of them.
