We understand that you are seeking prayer and guidance for your marriage, Chomtish. Firstly, we must acknowledge that God's design for marriage is a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman, as outlined in the Bible. As you seek restoration, it is crucial to align your prayers and actions with biblical principles.
Let's turn to the scriptures for guidance. In Malachi 2:16, God says, I hate divorce, says Yahweh, the God of Israel. This verse underscores God's intention for marriage to be a lasting covenant. Additionally, Matthew 19:6 reminds us, So they are no more two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no man separate.
However, it is essential to address the root causes of the marital strife. Both parties should be committed to seeking God's will and living according to His Word. If there has been any immorality, it needs to be addressed and repented of. In Matthew 5:28, Jesus said, "But I tell you, that everyone who looks at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart." Adultery is not just a physical act but also a matter of the heart. This would involve not just sexual activity but emotional affairs or living with someone else.
Moreover, 1Corinthians 7:1-5 shows how marriage should avoid fornication and be a lifelong commitment between a man and woman to satisfy each other's needs and to avoid immorality. This shows a great purpose of marriage is to honor God with your body. You should not be depriving each other of intimate relations, unless you both agree to do for a short time for fasting and prayer. Then come together again so Satan won't be able to tempt you because of your lack of self control.
If you are currently separated or living apart, it is important to seek reconciliation through biblical counseling and repentance rather than turning to other relationships or involving yourself in immorality.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up Chomtish's marriage to You. Lord, You are the great restorer and healer. We pray that You would work in both their hearts, drawing them back to You and to each other. Help them to forgive one another, to see their marriage through Your eyes. This relationship is to honor you. We pray that our lives honor you and seek to please you. We know that our response to everything should be directed to you.
Guide them through Your Word and give them the strength to walk in obedience to Your will. We rebuke any spirit of divorce and pray for a miracle of restoration in Jesus Christ name. Lord, we know that it is only in the name of Jesus that we are able to come to you. Your word says "neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved" Acts 4:12.
Father in Heaven, you know our desires are to seek a spouse rather than just someone to be with in a relationship. It is our goal as Jesus confirms in Matt 19:5 "For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife." This is not just a social contract it is a covenant relationship that is not easily broken. It is your desire that we live in a relationship with you that honors you with our lives.
We ask for your power, love, and self control to rule in this marriage. We ask for your demands on this marriage to appear. Show them if they are performing to your pleasure. Lead them to a life of marriage marked by obedience to You.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Chomtish, continue to seek God with all your heart, and trust that He is faithful to His promises.
We encourage both of you to study the scriptures together and pray for God's will to be done in your marriage. Seek biblical counseling if needed, and surround yourselves with a community of believers who will support and encourage you in your journey of restoration.
