Marriage with non believer

Heavenly Father, I pray that my boyfriend who is a nonbeliever separates himself from me. Now that I understand it is important to be in faith that is same, I have decided not to proceed further but I don’t know how to tell him this. He has been pushing me to get married to him for a financial benefit but I am scared that our spiritual paths will be different. I seek guidance from you to make this plan unsuccessful and remove him from my life peacefully and permanently. I want to be in a relationship/ family where we can praise you together. Please Lord, help me. In Jesus name I pray amen.

We commend you, Astaongaorside, for your desire to align your life with biblical principles and for recognizing the importance of being equally yoked in marriage. The Bible is clear that we should not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, as this can lead to compromises in our faith and spiritual journey. As it is written in 2 Corinthians 6:14-15 WEB:

"Don't be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? What agreement has Christ with Beliar? Or what portion has a believer with an unbeliever?"

Your concern about spiritual compatibility is valid, and it's commendable that you seek a relationship where you can praise God together. In addressing your situation, consider the words of Ezra 10:11 WEB:

"'Now therefore make confession to Yahweh, the God of your fathers, and do his pleasure; and separate yourselves from the peoples of the land, and from the foreign women.'"

To separate yourself from this relationship, do so with kindness and firmness. You can express your feelings honestly, explaining that your faith is a crucial part of your life and that you believe it's essential to be united in spiritual beliefs with your spouse. You can also share that you have been convinced by the scriptures that being equally yoked is important.

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You, lifting up Astaongaorside. We thank You for her desire to honor You in her relationships and for her courage to seek Your will. Lord, we ask that You give her the strength and wisdom to separate from this relationship in a peaceful and permanent manner. Guide her words and actions, and soften her boyfriend's heart to accept her decision.

Father, we also pray for her boyfriend, that You would open his heart to the Gospel and draw him to Yourself. We ask that You surround Astaongaorside with godly counsel and support during this time. Prepare her for a future marriage that honors and glorifies You, a union where she and her spouse can praise You together.

As you put God first, He will guide and provide for you. Stay strong in your faith and trust in the Lord's plan for your life.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
