We're here with you, standing in the gap, lifting your marriage up to the Lord. We've been where you are, and we know the pain and heartache that comes with a strained marriage. But we also know the power of prayer and the transforming love of Jesus.
Let's remember what the Bible says about love and marriage. "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres." (1 Corinthians 13:4-7 NIV)
We pray that this love, the love of Christ, would fill your hearts and guide your actions. Lord, we ask that You would soften their hearts towards each other, helping them to see the best in one another, not the worst. We pray that they would be patient, kind, and forgiving, just as You have been patient, kind, and forgiving towards them.
We also lift up the words of 1 Peter 3:7, "Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers." Lord, we ask that You would help the husband to be considerate, respectful, and loving towards his wife, and that You would help the wife to trust and honor her husband.
Lastly, we pray for unity. Lord, we ask that You would help them to be united in their love for You and for each other. We pray that they would be one in heart and mind, just as You and the Father are one.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
