We are truly heartbroken to hear about the infidelity that has occurred in your marriage. This is a clear violation of God's commands but with support and serious repentance we trust that it can be healed. In the words of the wise King Solomon, Breaking a vow one has made to God is no light matter and that is what this is. When you make a vow to God, do not be slow to pay it, for he takes no pleasure in fools. Pay what you vow! It is better that you should not vow than that you should vow and not pay. Do not let your mouth lead you into sin. Do not protest before the messenger that this was a mistake. Why should God be angry at your voice, and destroy the work of your hands? Ecclesiastes 5:4-6 WEB.
Firstly, we must address the seriousness of the sin that has been committed. Adultery is clearly condemned in the Bible. Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled; for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous. Hebrews 13:4 WEB. Additionally, we must recognize that forgiveness is essential, but it does not mean ignoring the sin or its consequences. True repentance is of paramount importance. In fact, it is a key to the heart of God.
We encourage you to continue praying for your wife, but it is crucial to understand that you cannot force her to change or reconcile if she is not willing. Pray for her heart to soften and for her to turn away from her sin. Pray for God to intervene in your marriage and bring healing and restoration. For the unbelieving husband is sanctified in the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified in the brother. Otherwise your children would be unclean, but now they are holy. 1 Corinthians 7:14 WEB.
It is also important to pray for yourself, that God would give you strength, wisdom, and patience as you navigate this difficult time. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Ephesians 6:11 WEB.
Remember, God hates divorce and we must honor that. For I hate divorce, says Yahweh, the God of Israel Malachi 2:16 WEB. However, we must also acknowledge the reality of the situation. If your wife continues to reject you and refuse to repent, you may need to consider the tough decisions ahead. Whoever puts away his wife, and marries another, commits adultery against her. Mark 10:11 WEB.
We also want to remind you that it is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to God. And in no other is there salvation, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved! Acts 4:12 WEB. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your faith in Jesus Christ and make Him the Lord of your life.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up this broken marriage and this hurting heart. Lord, we pray for healing, restoration, and repentance. We pray that You would soften the heart of this man's wife and draw her back to You and to her marriage. We pray for strength, wisdom, and patience for this man as he navigates this difficult time. We pray that Your will would be done in this situation and that You would be glorified in the outcome. We ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.
