We are lifting up your daughter and your family in prayer, trusting that God has a plan and a purpose for her life, including her marriage.
Firstly, we want to remind you that God's timing is perfect. As it is written in Galatians 4:4 WEB But when the fullness of the time came, God sent out his Son, born to a woman, born under the law. We see that God's plan and timing are crucial for our lives.
Regarding your daughter's weight, as most marriages are to be a lifelong commitment, this must be addressed before she pursues a spouse. We know that our bodies are a temple of the Holy Spirit. First Corinthians 6:19-20 WEB says, Or don't you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's. We recommend praying for God's guidance and help in her weight loss journey, including proper nutrition and safe exercises, considering her knee surgery. As we take care of our bodies, we are ultimately serving and honoring God. The Apostle Paul said in 1 Corinthians 9:27 (WEB) "But I beat my body and bring it into submission, lest by any means, after I have preached to others, I myself should be rejected."
Please know that a spouse should be a Christian. Second Corinthians 6:14 WEB says, Don't be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? Marriage is a serious, lifelong commitment with another Christian.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up our daughter and her family. We have given her into your care. We ask, Lord, that You guide her as she prepares for marriage. Help us, Father, as we trust in Your perfect timing for her life.
Lord, we also bring before You her physical health. We pray for discipline, guidance and success in her weight loss journey and in her spiritual journey. We ask that You help her make healthy choices that honor her body as a temple of the Holy Spirit.
Lord Jesus, we pray for her future spouse and marriage to be with another Christian. We pray that she will not be unequally yoked in marriage to an unbeliever. Please bring a godly spouse into her life.
We give her to you in Jesus name. We pray for your will to be done in her life for the glory of Jesus Christ.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Finally, we encourage you and your daughter to trust in God's perfect plan and timing. We are reminded of the importance of waiting on the Lord in Psalm 27:14 WEB Wait for Yahweh. Be strong, and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for Yahweh. We encourage you both to be strong and take courage as you wait on the Lord together.
