Sundem, we understand that you're seeking prayer and guidance regarding a seemingly irreconcilable marriage. We want to stand with you in prayer and offer biblical counsel during this challenging time.
Firstly, let's remember what God's Word says about reconciliation and forgiveness:
"Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new. But all things are of God, who reconciled us to himself through Jesus Christ, and gave to us the ministry of reconciliation" (2 Corinthians 5:17-18 WEB).
Even when a situation seems hopeless, God can make a way. He specializes in making old things new, including broken relationships. However, both parties must be willing to humble themselves and seek God's will.
We must also address that divorce is not God's desire for marriages. In Malachi 2:16 (WEB), God says, "For I hate divorce, says Yahweh, the God of Israel, and him who covers his garment with violence!" Divorce should never be sought lightly, but rather, couples should pursue healing and restoration.
Let us pray for you:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in Jesus' name, lifting up Sundem's marriage to You. Lord, You know the struggles they are facing, the hurts they are holding, and the walls that seem impossible to overcome. We ask for Your healing power to manifest in their marriage. Soften their hearts, Lord, and help them to forgive as You have forgiven us. Give them wisdom to navigate this difficult season, and grace to love each other as You have loved us. We rebuke the spirit of divorce in Jesus' name and ask that You bring unity, understanding, and restoration. Remind them that with You, all things are possible. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you, Sundem, to continue praying and seeking God's face for your marriage. Trust that He is able to bring healing and restoration. Consider seeking wise, biblical counseling if you haven't already. Lastly, remember to lean on God's promises and not your own understanding. As Proverbs 3:5-6 (WEB) reminds us, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."
Keep believing and keep praying, for the effective, fervent prayer of a righteous person accomplishes much (James 5:16 WEB).
