We are truly sorry to hear about the struggles you and your husband are facing in your marriage. God's design for marriage is a lifelong commitment, reflecting the union between Christ and His church Ephesians 5:25, 31-33 WEB.
Firstly, we want to remind you that God hates divorce Malachi 2:16 WEB and marriage is to be honored by all Hebrews 13:4 WEB. It is important to seek God's will and guidance in this situation, rather than pursuing a divorce.
Both of you have acknowledged making mistakes. It is crucial to seek forgiveness from each other and from God. The WEB bible tells us Colossians 3:13, "Forbearing one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do."
Regarding the issues of disrespect and feeling unloved, we encourage both of you to strive to understand God's view on these topics. God calls husbands to love their wives as Christ loved the church and gave himself for her Ephesians 5:25 WEB. To the husbands reading this, let us again read Ephesians 5:28, "Even so, husbands also ought to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself." To wives reading this we see in Ephesians 5:22-24 WEB, "Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, and Christ also is the head of the assembly, being himself the savior of the body. But as the assembly is subject to Christ, so let the wives also be to their own husbands in everything." Likewise, Ephesians 5:33 WEB, "Nevertheless, each of you must also love his own wife even as himself; and let the wife see that she respects her husband." This has to be mutual to be successful.
Communication is vital in a marriage. We advise you to pray together and discuss your feelings openly and honestly, seeking understanding and reconciliation. James 1:19 WEB tells us, "So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger."
Let us pray for you:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you today in Jesus' name to lift up this marriage that is in need of your healing touch. Lord, you know the struggles and pain that they are facing. We ask that you would forgive their sins and help them to forgive each other.
Please help them to communicate effectively and to show love and respect to one another as your word instructs. Give them strength and wisdom to work through their difficulties and to honor their marriage covenant.
We believe that with you, all things are possible Matthew 19:26 WEB. We trust in your power to heal and restore this marriage. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Finally, we encourage you both to seek godly counsel, either from a pastor or a Christian marriage counselor, to help you work through your difficulties and strengthen your marriage. Keep praying and trusting in God, for with Him, all things are possible.
