We are truly sorry to hear about the struggles you're facing in your marriage and with your finances. Let's first address the issues in your marriage. It's not uncommon for couples to drift apart amidst the busyness of life, but it's crucial to remember that God's design for marriage is a lifelong commitment of love and support.
We must first examine and address your husband's behavior. As indicated in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 WEB Love is a choice and behavior is also a choice, "Love is patient and kind; love doesn't envy. Love doesn't brag, is not proud, doesn't behave itself inappropriately, doesn't seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil; doesn't rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things." If there is anything in your marriage that is not right with God, it must be addressed. The Bible tells us in Hebrews 13:4 WEB, "Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled; for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous." So we must pray that if there is any such ungodly behavior, that God would bring conviction and repentance, especially since we are commanded in 1 Corinthians 7:5 WEB, "Don't deprive one another, unless it is by consent for a season, that you may give yourselves to fasting and prayer, and may be together again, that Satan doesn't tempt you because of your lack of self-control."
Let's pray together:
"Father, we come before You, lifting up this marriage that has spanned 24 years. We pray for a renewal of love and commitment between this couple. We ask that You help them to prioritize their relationship, even amidst the busyness of life. We pray for the husband, that You would soften his heart and remind him of the love and affection he once had for his wife and bring conviction of sin if he has been involved in anything ungodly. We pray for a restoration of their marriage, that it would be stronger and more united than ever. Guide them as they navigate this season, and remind them of the vows they made to each other and to You. We also lift up their financial needs. With two children in college, we ask that You provide for their needs according to Your riches in glory. Give them wisdom to manage their finances well, and help them to trust in You, their Provider. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus."
Remember, God is faithful. He can restore and strengthen your marriage, and He can provide for your financial needs. Trust in Him, and He will see you through. Also, continue to follow the teachings of Jesus, for as He said in John 14:6 WEB, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me." It is only in Him that we find eternal life, so encourage your family to follow Him as well.
Lastly, we encourage both of you to be open and honest with each other about your feelings and concerns. Seek God together, pray together, and let Him guide your marriage and your finances. Consider seeking out a local congregation or counselor for support and guidance during this time. May this verse encourage you. In all things we are more than conquerors through Jesus Christ.
