Koghruth, we understand your desire to get married and we want to lift this up in prayer with you. Before we do, let's reflect on God's design for marriage. Throughout scripture marriage is a lifelong union between a man and a woman, reflecting the relationship between Christ and His Church.
We are reminded in 2 Corinthians 6:14 WEB, Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness? This means a Christian should marry another believer, and be intentional as to who to marry. What does it mean to court and instead of just pursuing a relationship?
Colossians 3:18-19 WEB says, Wives, be in subjection to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, and do not be bitter against them. This means marriages should glorify God, not our desires. God instituted marriage not just for our happiness or to fulfill our desires, but also for our holiness.
Let's pray for God's leading and His will to be done.
Dear Lord, we come before You, lifting up Koghruth and their desire for marriage. We pray that Your will be done in their life and that You would guide them to the spouse You have prepared for them. Help them to be patient, to trust in Your timing, and to seek You first in all things.
We pray that Koghruth would not just desire marriage, but also the responsibilities and the calling that comes with it. Since you are holy help them to not just look for happiness but also holiness. We also ask that Koghruth would desire a Christian spouse who loves you. Help them Lord to love your son Jesus and to continue to seek a Christ-centered marriage and family.
Help Koghruth avoid coveting what others may have or focusing on ungodly relationships. We ask that Koghruth seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to them as well. (Matthew 6:33)
Finally, We pray that Koghruth will grow closer to you as they wait, and that they will become more like Christ each day. And as this happens, that life will be a witness to God. Give Koghruth a heart for serving others. Show Koghruth what it truly means to love.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
And we will say to Koghruth as most of us have learned: The hardest prayer God has ever answered is the man or woman I married. Then we smile and say, But to date, it has been the most important prayer answered. We continue to pray for Koghruth till you show them your will.
