We are thrilled to join you in prayer and consideration as you strive to make your high school baseball team. Remember, that our ultimate goal should be to bring glory to God in all that we do. Whether or not you make the team, your identity is secure in Christ.
Firstly, we should always remember and be encouraged by the word in Colossians 3:23 WEB: "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men." This means our efforts and hard work should be directed towards pleasing God rather than solely focusing on personal achievements or the approval of others.
In light of this, let us pray:
Heavenly Father, we come before You today to lift up this young person who desires to make the high school baseball team. Lord, we ask that You guide them, give them strength, and help them to perform at their very best. Help them to maintain a positive attitude and good sportsmanship, win or lose. Help the coaches see the potential You have placed within them.
However, Father, we also pray that if it is not Your will for them to make the team, that they would accept this with grace and understanding. Help them to trust in Your plan for their life, knowing that You have a purpose and a path for them that is far greater than any earthly achievement.
Lord, we also pray that this young person would use this opportunity to be a light for You on the baseball field. May their actions and attitudes point others to You. Help them to be bold in just as You have called us to be in Matthew 28:19-20 WEB: "Therefore go, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I commanded you. Behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."
Father, we ask all these things in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
Lastly, we encourage you to keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author, and perfecter of our faith. Remember that your worth is not determined by your athletic abilities or achievements, but by your identity as a child of God. We will be praying for you.
