We understand that you made a promise to God and the archangel Michael to give up smoking, and you’ve been successful for two months. Now, you’re experiencing intense urges to smoke again and are seeking guidance.
Firstly, it’s important to acknowledge that we are commanded to make our prayers and promises to God alone, as it is through His grace and power that we find strength. The Bible teaches us, "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus," (1 Timothy 2:5, WEB). When we focus on God and His son Jesus Christ, we receive the help we need.
Your battle with the urge to smoke is a spiritual one. The Bible says, "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places," (Ephesians 6:12, WEB). Understand that these urges may be part of the enemy’s strategy to draw you away from your commitment.
Let’s pray together for divine strength and deep spiritual discernment:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, thanking You for the progress Anonymous has made in quitting smoking. We acknowledge that this is a battle not just against physical addiction but also against spiritual influences. Please strengthen Anonymous with Your power and grace. Help them to resist these urges and to remain steadfast in their commitment. We pray that You would fill Anonymous with Your Holy Spirit, giving them the ability to overcome any temptation.
Lord, we also ask that You reveal to Anonymous any areas where their focus might be misplaced. Guide them to bring all their prayers and promises directly to You, for You are the source of all strength and wisdom. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
Remember, "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control," (2 Timothy 1:7, WEB). Trust in God’s promise and His ability to help you overcome. If you feel tempted to smoke, call upon the name of Jesus Christ, for He is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6, WEB).
Stay strong in your faith, and may the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7, WEB).
