Love's Freedom and Healing

Dear Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, My mom's interference feels suffocating – like she's crushing the fragile blooms of my love life with Derrick. Being torn between longing for spending time with him reduces my adult heart to a helpless child's plea. I just want to love Derrick without interference! At 37 years old, I'm weary. No longer needing guidance, but thirsting for privacy. Yet, her involvement lingers, suffocating my love life. Not only haven't I seen him since the New Year started, but I fear he's no longer interested. I fear he's gained eyes possibly for someone else because of this issue – no dependable babysitter and no quality time together as needed. It hurts me deeply because I am in love with Derrick. Lord Jesus, please hear my cry; I've been having a hard time. I also pray for my friend's son – like a nephew to me – shot twice in a drive-by shooting tonight. Lord Jesus, I pray for his healing and recovery; hold onto him and comfort his family in this time. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen

We understand your distress, Taylundy, and we're here to support you in prayer and truth according to God's Word.

Firstly, we want to address your feelings of suffocation and interference from your mother. It's important to remember that God calls us to honor our parents, but He also desires that we leave and cleave to our spouses, as it is written in Genesis 2:24, "Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother, and will join with his wife, and they will be one flesh." If your intention is to have Derrick as your husband, then courtship should be honoring God. This requires a delicate balance of respecting your mother while also establishing healthy boundaries.

However, we must also address the fact that you and Derrick are not yet married. As we wait on God to bless a relationship for marriage, we are to "flee from sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body." This we learn from 1 Corinthians 6:18. It is crucial to maintain purity in your relationship and use this time to grow spiritually together.

Regarding your fears about Derrick's interest, we encourage you to trust in God's timing and plan. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and he will make your paths straight." Pray for God's will to be done in your life and trust that He knows best.

Concerning your friend's son, we join you in prayer for his healing and recovery. We stand on the promise of Psalm 147:3, "He heals the broken in heart and binds up their wounds." We pray for comfort for the family and that this situation would be used for God's glory.

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You today in Jesus Christ's name. Thank You for the guidance and wisdom found in Your Word. Lord, we lift up Taylundy and her situation. Help her to honor her parents while also establishing healthy boundaries. Lord, guide her relationship with Derrick, and if it is Your will, bless their relationship for marriage. Help them to maintain purity and grow spiritually together. Lord, we pray for healing and recovery for Taylundy's friend's son. Comfort his family and use this situation for Your glory. In Jesus Christ's name, we pray. Amen.

Lastly, we want to encourage you to continue seeking God's face and trusting in His plan. Remember that God is faithful, and He desires the best for you. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus and run the race set before you with endurance.

Bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, and Your righteousness. Help and strengthen me God to always respect and obey You. Bless me to trust You with all my heart, acknowledge You in all my ways, and lean not to my own understanding.

God heal me. Deliver and cleansed me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. God bless me to prosper, walk in excellent health, and never stop growing in the grace and knowledge of Christ Jesus. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God solution focused heart, mind, spirit, and attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. God, all that I have asked of You, in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, all those who love and care about me, and all those I love and care about. Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
