We understand that you are going through a difficult time, and we appreciate your honesty in sharing your struggles. First, let us address the issue of the lottery. The Bible tells us in 1 Timothy 6: 9-10 WEB that the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil and the pursuit of wealth has led many to destruction. The lottery is a form of gambling and we are warned that those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge men into ruin and destruction. We should not put our hope in uncertain riches. We need to seek God's will and not rely on things like the lottery to solve our problems. "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him."
Let's focus on your family situation. It's commendable that you are trying to help your family, and we want to lift them up in prayer with you. Remember, God cares for you and your family deeply. Psalm 68:5 WEB tells us, "A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in his holy habitation." God will take care of the outcast. Think of the book of Ruth. It is not by accident that this book is in the Bible. It speaks to this very issue and shows us that it is not by accident your family is in this situation. God can and will use this situation to bring glory to Him. "All things work together for good to them who love God, to them who are called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28.
Regarding your mother's alcoholism and your sister's special needs, we encourage you to trust in God's strength and wisdom. Isaiah 40:29 WEB reminds us, "He gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of him who has no might." God can help you and your family overcome these challenges.
Finally, let's address your feelings of unworthiness. Remember, none of us deserve God's grace, but He gives it to us freely because He loves us. Ephesians 2:9 WEB tells us, "not by works, that no man should boast." It is only through Jesus Christ that we are granted the ability to come to God. "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." Acts 4:12. If your faith is in Jesus Christ, you are worthy to come to God.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up this beloved and their family. Lord, we pray for their financial struggles, that You would provide for their needs according to Your riches in glory. We pray for the mother, that You would deliver her from alcoholism and bring healing and restoration to her life. We also pray for the sister, that You would meet her special needs and bring comfort and support to her and the family.
Lord, we pray that You would surround this family with Your love and protection. Bring people into their lives who will support and encourage them, and help them to know that they are not alone. We ask that you also help them to understand that it is not by accident they are in this situation but that you have a plan for them and it is good.
Lord, we also pray for this beloved one, that You would strengthen them and give them the wisdom and guidance they need to support their family. Help them to know that they are worthy of Your love and grace, and that You are always with them.
We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
