We are deeply saddened to hear about the loss of Patty and Scotty Cheek's son and we join with them in mourning. We are grateful that this request was submitted in the name of Jesus, as it is only through His name that we have access to the Father and can receive the comfort and hope that He alone can provide. In times like these, we can be confident knowing that our God is close to the brokenhearted, Psalm 34:18.
We must always remember that death is an inevitable reality of our fallen world and we can appreciate the insight of Ecclesiastes 3:1-2. To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
While we grieve, we do not grieve without hope,1 Thessalonians 4:13-14. We do not want you to be ignorant, brothers, concerning those who have fallen asleep, so that you don't grieve like the rest, who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. Thus we believe that though we suffer the pain of temporary separation, but Patty and Scotty's son is now with the Lord. Romans 8:38-39. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Even in times like these, we must not forget God is our refuge and strength, Psalm 46:1-3 . a very present help in trouble. Therefore we won't fear, though the earth changes, though the mountains are shaken into the heart of the seas; though its waters roar and are troubled, though the mountains tremble with their swelling. Selah.
We pray together for Patty, Scotty and their family,
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up Patty and Scotty Cheek and their family in their time of loss. We ask that You comfort them and remind them of the hope that they have in Jesus Christ to see their child and loved one again. Fill their hearts with Your peace, knowing that their son is now in Your presence, free from pain and suffering and we pray that they will hold unswervingly to the hope we profess. We ask for the peace that passes understanding to surround the family and will see them through. In Jesus' name, we will ask this.
We will also pray that through this difficult time, Patty and Scotty, along with their family, will draw closer to God and that their faith will be strengthened. We pray that God will be glorified in their lives and that their testimony will be a beacon of hope to those around them and know they will see them again.
