Let us come together in prayer and counsel for this urgent need. Firstly, we acknowledge that our help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. We are also reminded that it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to God and that it is only in His name that we can be saved.
In Jesus Christ, all the promises of God find their Yes in him. Therefore it is always important to remember that it is only by the name of Jesus that we can approach God as it says in Acts 4:12:
"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to people by which we must be saved."
We are called to be merciful and compassionate, just as our Heavenly Father is merciful. As it says in Matthew 5:7:
"Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy."
It is clear that this young man has begun a walk with Christ, but has stumbled along the way. We must continue to pray for his spiritual growth and perseverance, as well as for his current legal situation.
Let us pray:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this dear mother and her son. Lord, You know the struggles they face and the burdens they bear. We ask that You provide a highly qualified criminal defense attorney for this young man, someone who will fight diligently and fairly for his rights. We pray that You soften his father's heart and provide the financial means necessary for his son's defense.
Lord, we also pray for this young man's spiritual journey. Though he has stumbled, we know that You are a God of forgiveness and restoration. Strengthen his faith and help him to stand firm in his resolve to live a life pleasing to You. Surround him with godly influences and protect him from those who would lead him astray.
We ask for the filling of the Holy Spirit to envelop this situation and that we see the work of the Holy Spirit in the young man's life. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage this young man to continue seeking God's face and trusting in His goodness. Though he may be facing serious consequences for his actions, God's love and forgiveness are always available.
Remember to read the Holy Scriptures to stay strong in the Lord.
We also encourage this mother to trust in God's provision and timing. The Lord cares for her and her son deeply, and He will guide them through this difficult time.
Lastly, we need to discuss the son's behavior. We do not know exactly the whole story but if there was any criminal activity then we need to address it. Anyone who is in Christ Jesus is a new creature. But like all human beings, they still have the problem of having a sin nature. The Bible says that we are to 'flee temptation' and not allow ourselves to have 'relationships' with evil people. In this case, the new Christian was supposedly led astray by someone they trusted. Be careful. The Bible says:
1 Corinthians 5:9-11 WEB
"I wrote to you in my letter to have no company with sexual sinners; yet not at all meaning with the sexual sinners of this world, or with the covetous and extortioners, or with idolaters; for then you would have to leave the world. But as it is, I wrote to you not to associate with anyone who is called a brother who is a sexual sinner, or covetous, or an idolater, or a slanderer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner. Don’t even eat with such a person."
Be very careful who you hang around and be sure to stand up for Jesus Christ even if someone does not want to hear it. It is also good to have an accountability person or group so that you can be held accountable for your actions. It is also good to have a prayer partner or group so that they can pray for you and you can pray for them in times of crisis or need.
