LORD, OPEN MY
SPIRITUAL EYES
Say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution he will come to save you.†Then will the eyes of the blind be opened and the ears of the deaf unstopped. Isaiah 35:4-5
How do you see your marriage? How do you see your circumstances? How do you see your spouse? My prayer for you today is that you will allow the Holy Spirit to show you how He sees your marriage, your spouse and your circumstances. The way He sees everything is totally different from how you see your circumstances at the present time.
Lord, I pray that you will open this dear stander’s eyes to see what Your plan and future are for their spouse and marriage. I pray that You will open their spouse’s prodigal eyes to see the truth that will set them free instead of being a slave to their sinful lifestyle. Help their spouse to stop listening to the lies from the enemy. I know that nothing is too hard for You to do. Lord, help this dear stander to keep their eyes on You and not on their circumstances. Lord, increase their faith, hope and trust in You daily. I pray this in the mighty Name of Jesus. Amen.
“Now, my God, may your eyes be open and your ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place.†2 Chronicles 6:40
The perfect example of seeing extreme circumstances by the natural eye, but not understanding what the Lord is doing in the spiritual realm, is in 2 Kings 6:8-23 about Elisha and his servant. This is one of my many favorite Bible stories. Please read the entire story as you will be blessed.
The King of Aram was at war with Israel. Time after time, Elisha, the prophet, revealed to the king of Israel of what was being said regarding every attack that the King of Aram was doing - they were not winning. When the King of Aram found out who was exposing his secrets, he went out to capture Elisha by sending his army with horses and chariots. When Elisha’s servant got up the next morning, he saw the enemy surrounding the city and he became very afraid.
When the servant of the man of God got up and went out early the next morning, an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city. “Oh, my lord, what shall we do?†the servant asked. 2 Kings 6:15
May that be your prayer today: Lord, what shall I do about _____? Ask the Lord for His perfect plan and will in your life. Do not seek others for their opinions, because that is exactly what it is—an opinion. Only God knows what He wants to do for you and your marriage. He knows every one of your circumstances and burdens. He knows what trials and tribulations you face each and every day. What does the Lord say?
“Don't be afraid,†the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.†And Elisha prayed, “O Lord, open his eyes so he may see.†Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. 2 Kings 6:16-17
Will you believe in the power of the sovereign God? How big is your God? My God is mighty in power and awesome in wisdom and strength! Throughout the Bible, God shows us His power defeating the enemy. Will you believe in His power for your spouse to be delivered from the enemy’s prison and their eyes opened to God’s Truths? Your beloved husband’s or wife’s heart is not too hard for God. Ask the Lord today to “open your eyes so that you may see God's plan, His protection and His provision in your circumstances.†Now let me open your eyes with a few of God’s Truths:
God is faithful regardless of your circumstances. His Word is true. God is always with you. You must choose to believe in the power of God’s army and heavenly hosts to protect you and your family.
As the enemy came down toward him, Elisha prayed to the Lord, “Strike these people with blindness.†So he struck them with blindness, as Elisha had asked. Elisha told them, “This is not the road and this is not the city. Follow me, and I will lead you to the man you are looking for.†And he led them to Samaria. 2 Kings 6:18-19
God will always protect you from the evil one. May you pray Elisha’s prayer for yourself. Open my eyes so that I may see Your will and way in my marriage.
Let me share another important point by reading one verse again for emphasis:
...Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. 2 Kings 6:17
I pray a Hedge of Protection and a Wall of Fire around my family almost daily to protect them from the evil one. I also pray that my Lord will open my family’s spiritual eyes to see the power of God in their own lives. Will you?
“‘And I myself will be a wall of fire around it,’ declares the Lord, ‘and I will be its glory within.’†Zechariah 2:5
As you read this Bible story look at some principles that you may learn today.
There are a host of ministering angels who are active in the lives of God’s people.
If you make the Most High your dwelling-- even the LORD, who is my refuge-- then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. Psalm 91:9-11
Remember who is on your side in spite of your present circumstances. Trust in the Lord.
....If God is for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:31
Pray that God would deliver you, your beloved spouse and loved ones from their spiritual blindness. Pray daily that the eyes of their hearts will be opened to see the God’s Truths, suddenly, now!
I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. Ephesians 1:17-19
Now be like Elisha’s servant and open your eyes to see what the Lord wants to show you about your marriage!
God bless,
