Zechariah 12:5:
And the governors of Judah shall say in their heart, The inhabitants of Jerusalem shall be my strength in the LORD of hosts their God.

Commentary on this verse:
12:1-8 Here is a Divine prediction, which will be a heavy burden to all the enemies of the church. But it is for Israel; for their comfort and benefit. It is promised that God will make foolish the counsels, and weaken the courage of the enemies of the church. The exact meaning is not clear; but God often begins by calling the poor and despised; and in that day even the feeblest will resemble David, and be as eminent in courage and every thing good. Desirable indeed is it that the examples and labours of Christians should render them as fire among wood, as a torch in a sheaf, to kindle the flame of Divine love, to spread religion on the right hand and on the left.

Prayer for Zechariah 12:10:
“"Then I will pour out a spirit of grace and prayer on the house of David and the residents of Jerusalem, and they will look at Me whom they pierced. They will mourn for Him as one mourns for an only child and weep bitterly for Him as one weeps for a firstborn.”

Praying through Zechariah 12:10:
Our prayer:
pHeavenly Father, thank You for Your amazing grace. Thank You that You did not cut off Your people Israel, and thank You that Your promises are "Yes" and "Amen" in Jesus Christ for all who trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. Thank You that You are a covenant-keeping God, and we praise You for Your goodness and grace towards the children of men. We pray for the nation of Israel, that many will come to know the Lord Jesus as their God and Messiah, and become part of the one new man in Christ. But we also pray that Your will be done, in the coming time of Jacob's trouble - that glorious day, when Your chosen people will look on the One Whom they pierced with nails and thorns and proclaim Jesus as Lord, and they cry out with one voice, "Blessed is He Who comes in the name of the Lord," in whose name we pray, AMEN.

Tang Wei Ping, thank you for turning to us for commentary and prayer. Let's delve into Zechariah 12:5 and its surrounding context, seeking God's will together.

**Commentary on Zechariah 12:5:**
Zechariah 12 opens with a prophecy about the siege of Jerusalem and the ultimate deliverance of God's people. Verse 5 specifically highlights that the governors of Judah will recognize the inhabitants of Jerusalem as their strength in the Lord of hosts their God. This points to a spirit of unity and mutual support among God's people, drawing their strength from the Lord Himself.

In context, verses 1-8 describe God's protection and empowerment of His people. He promises to make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all nations (12:3) and to defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem (12:8). This passage underscores God's faithfulness to His promises and His commitment to protecting and strengthening His people.

**Prayer for Zechariah 12:10:**
Let us pray through this powerful verse:

"Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, acknowledging Your unfailing promises. Just as You promised to pour out a spirit of grace and supplication on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, we ask for that same spirit to fill us. Help us to look upon Jesus, whom we pierced with our sins, and mourn for Him as one mourns for an only child. May we weep bitterly for Him, as one weeps for a firstborn.

Lord, thank You for Your amazing grace. Thank You that Your promises are 'Yes' and 'Amen' in Jesus Christ for all who trust in Him. Thank You for being a covenant-keeping God. We praise You for Your goodness and grace towards the children of men.

We pray for the nation of Israel, that many will come to know the Lord Jesus as their God and Messiah, and become part of the one new man in Christ. We also pray that Your will be done in the coming time of Jacob's trouble—that glorious day when Your chosen people will look on the One Whom they pierced and proclaim Jesus as Lord.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

**Encouragement and Rebuke:**
Remember, it is only by the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to God. As it is written, "There is no other name under heaven that is given among men by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12, WEB). If you have not yet accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we encourage you to do so today. Believe in Him, confess your sins, and commit your life to Him.

Let us strive to live in unity and mutual support, drawing our strength from the Lord, just as the governors of Judah recognized the inhabitants of Jerusalem as their strength in the Lord of hosts their God. May we be as fire among wood, kindling the flame of divine love and spreading the good news of Jesus Christ on every side.

We join you in thanking God for His unfailing promises, especially the one in Zechariah 12:5. It's a beautiful reminder that when we stand united in the Lord, we are truly strong. We're praying for Israel, that many will come to know Jesus as their Messiah, and that the day will come when they'll look upon Him whom they pierced and mourn for Him as one mourns for an only child. We're also asking for that spirit of grace and supplication to fill us, so we can weep bitterly for Jesus too. Let's strive to be like fire among wood, kindling the flame of divine love and spreading the good news of Jesus Christ on every side. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer. If your request was answered, please post a praise report and let us all know. If your request does not seem to have been answered, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer. We all hope that our prayers are answered in the way that we want. Sometimes we believe that God is not answering our prayers because we do not see what we expect. In these cases, we should persist in prayer and determine how God is answering our prayer. May God bless you as you continue to seek him through his son, Jesus Christ.
