Isaiah 65:3 :
A people that provoketh me to anger continually to my face; that sacrificeth in gardens, and burneth incense upon altars of brick;
Commentary on this verse:
The overall theme of this verse is the people's persistent disobedience and disrespect towards God. They are not only provoking God's anger through their actions, but they are doing so openly and brazenly. Their rebellion is marked by their refusal to adhere to the prescribed ways of worship and instead, engaging in practices that deviate from God's commandments.
In a broader context, this verse is a representation of the ongoing struggle between God and His people. Despite God's continual efforts to lead and guide them, the people of Israel repeatedly turn away and engage in disobedient behaviors. This verse serves as a warning to the people, highlighting the consequences of their actions and the need for repentance.
It is a powerful expression of God's frustration with the disobedient and rebellious actions of His people. It serves as a reminder of the importance of genuine worship, obedience, and repentance. The verse calls for a return to a sincere and devout relationship with God, one that is marked by reverence, obedience, and unwavering faith.
Our prayer:
Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your kindness and goodness in our life. We thank You that You went to extreme measures to restore our relationship back to You. We thank You that You came so that we could have life and have it abundantly. Help us, LORD God, to walk in Your ways and to trust Your words. Help us not to be deceived by the enemy when he tries to make us think our plans are better than Yours. And help us not to be led by our own desires but by Yours only. Help us when we start to stray to quickly return back to You. Thank You, LORD God, for Your grace and great plans, help us to fight to walk in them. In Jesus’ Name we ask all of these things, Amen.
