Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer our bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God - this is your spiritual act of worship. Romans 12:1
How are you living? As a Christian, you must live differently! People around you must be able to see and know by your words, your actions, and your attitudes that you are choosing to be different than the world’s ways. The Word of God teaches you so strongly how you should live. You need to strive for righteousness and holiness living. Righteousness will produce a life of transformation. If you are losing control of your speech, actions or words, may you realize that the Lord wants you to grow more in Him, becoming more Christ-like every day.
Bob would say after he came home, "I couldn't push Charlyne's buttons any longer." How did I do that? I chose every day not to allow strife or anger to come into our home, so I chose to allow the Lord to deal with issues of any kind. I ignored the critical words or criticisms or belittling comments and prayed that the Holy Spirit would defend me. I said in a prayer, “Lord, You brought Bob home, you change his heart! I trust You, Lord.†I zipped my lips. After I prayed that prayer, Bob would often later in the evening apologize or say something of an apology. The Holy Spirit was speaking to Bob’s heart. I praised the Lord, as I only had to surrender everything to the Lord and trust Him to be my Defender and Protector in everything! But if Bob did not apologize, I did not react or defend myself. I gave it to the Lord and forgave Bob immediately.
Allow your Lord to take any vengeance on your spouse, not by your saying everything that is coming across your mind at that intense moment. The enemy is having a field day in your mind. You must learn how to throw out the trash and get rid of it immediately. The enemy will send trash mail through your mind every hour, but you must learn to click on the "delete button" BEFORE you even finish reading the temptation. Don't pollute your mind; virus proof your thoughts by pouring the Blood of Jesus over your thoughts, words and behavior. Always remember to ask yourself, "What would Jesus do?"
Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:2
Your spouse has been taken captive by the enemy who first attacked their mind. They will continue to be attacked in their mind with many thoughts and temptations. You need to learn how to pray for your husband or wife and pray that they learn to realize who is speaking to them, Satan himself! Pray that your spouse will learn to fear God. Seek the Lord and choose to run from the sinful desires and the lusts of the flesh. Pornography is a sin that appears to be silent for a season, but is destroying your spouse and many teenagers. You must take precautions in your home. Spouses are meeting people on the computer and falling into very sinful relationships while they are sitting at home! Beware of the enemy’s tricks and schemes!
Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body. 1 Corinthians 6:20
You are asking the Lord to "transform you and your husband’s or wife’s mind." The mind is the center of logical reasoning, ethical judgment, and moral awareness. We cannot whitewash what sin really is, in the world or in your own personal lives. The Lord God knows and sees all.
Your spouse can walk in spiritual victory if he or she chooses to follow their Lord Jesus Christ. You must live for God, worship Him, obey Him, flee from the enemy, resist and hate evil. If you start compromising, realize that the enemy is tempting you and you need to push the "delete" button on your mind and choose to be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed. As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: "Be holy, because I am holy." 1 Peter 1:13-16
You and your husband or wife can accomplish all this by the power of the Holy Spirit, who cleanses both of you from all your sins, and renews you in the image of Jesus Christ, who enables each of you to have the grace to obey our Lord God according to His Word.
Never stop praying for your spouse to be set free from the bondages of sin and the strongholds in their life. Our Lord is the Deliverer and the Restorer for your husband or wife and for all your lost loved ones! Don’t give up!
